Game developer by weekday, furry by weekend and night!
I'm glad to say my first time at Eurofurence was a brilliant experience, all the events, panels and people I met were fantastic and I'm glad I went.
Despite not staying at the hotel, the nearby 2A Hostel was a pretty decent place to stay for 2 star accommodation (save the lack of A/C and decent Wi-Fi) and it just happened that I was staying with at least three other furries (
yenth, Sainte and a Belgian fur). They were really nice and even took me to a local bakery to try some German sandwiches and drinks).
One thing Eurofurence has other Confuzzled was their stage works, the opening ceremony had an amazingly in-depth laser light show which included a countdown and tunnel, the fursuit gameshow had Max-Headroom style segments that were funny and aesthetically old, even their Pawpet show had an epic music score from Fox Amoore and visual effects like fire and multiple arrows (it was also a lot more mature but I won't go into details).
If I had any issues, it would be the fursuiting rules. Considering there were apparently over 1000 fursuiters at the con, I guess it was the best they could do to benefit all the suiters they had, but it was a bit jarring to realise you could only go to the fursuit lounge if you have a badge, you can only get your badge once you are registered and bring your fursuit head to prove it's yours and you have to book for the fursuit photoshoot with limited slots. I also had problems with how expensive the hotel was, but I mainly went to the Kebabhaus and a bakery stall at the station so easy for me to avoid.
On the Monday I went sightseeing around Berlin city centre, hosted by an amazing tour guide who was a student in West Berlin during the 80s and is now a Opera Director who runs Operas around the world. I got to see Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall, the city's historical landmarks and even tried a local Berlin alcoholic drink called grĂ¼n, and then later went to the Computerspiele which despite its size had an amazing amount of games to try out, stuff to read and original videos to watch.
Unfortunately after I got back from the museum I was starting to feel a bit light headed, and as I went to the Dead Dog Party it got worse and became a fever. The next day I kept feeling exhausted, was both hot/cold at the same time, and it hurt to eat or drink. I did try to go to work today but I was really out of it and my colleagues noticed, I think if it doesn't improve enough I'll take a day off.
Still very happy to go to Eurofurence, would definitely consider returning! :3
