I have Aspergers (High functioning) and i know exactly how tough it can be. Teachers in the past have tried to teach me like i'm SEVERELY mentally disabled, thinking that i'm Low functioning.

I know what ya mean, I worked at a summer camp for Autistic kids a few years back. Its tough, and takes patience.

I really try to connect with the atutistic kids. There is debate whether or not I was diagnosed Asperger's syndrome in the past.

Even "non-verbal" communication is still a language I try to understand. Often the other teachers look at me like I'm nuts because I refuse to stop stims or say "quiet hands." I try to learn what I can on how the kid communicates. It's just so difficult. Functioning labels are useless and there is an intelligent human being inside who just doesn't know how to connect the same way I do.
