So here's my current situation:

A few days ago the internet shut off, we forgot to pay the bill. My sister is the one who pays and she was out of the house

Today my sister gets home and pays the bill. The Internet still won't turn on.

I restart the modem and restart my computer to see if that fixes things. Modem isn't working and my (already old) laptop doesn't restart.

I call the support line, on the phone for maybe an hour, and they cannot help. I'm told I need to exchange the modem for a new one at the nearest support center, or wait until Friday for a technician.

The support center is likely closed tomorrow because Labor Day.

So now I'm out of the Internet for at least another day or two, and my laptop isn't functioning. So I can only connect to the web on my phone right now, while trying to diagnose the problems.

Edit update: I attempted reconnecting to the wifi and it seemed to work this time, so maybe I'm going to have wifi again at least temporarily. I'll still try to replace the router Tuesday if I can. the computer finished "refreshing" itself as part of a recovery option and we'll see if it will function
