Looks like you had a really fun character highlight this week :3. Was definitely enjoyable to read and has me curious about more than just Temsa XD. Of course Tidekeeper's comic is proving to be interesting as well.

*nodsnods* Oooooh yes... TideKeeper's lore for his characters is amazing - just the sort of densely packed backstory and details that you and I love. :) I remember asking curiously about the different races last year and got pages and pages of details in e-mail. :D I will certainly be featuring more of them.

And yes, Tazara's work is always so lovely - the colours and details are so crisp, and the characters very well portrayed. The pictures always look like they're telling a story, which (again with us) is a big deal. ^_^

My favorite for this week is Tazara's entry though -- the colours, the details, the atmosphere...all of it is so beautifully done! Also I am FOREVER JEALOUS of that gorgeous cel-shading omg.

Such neat stuff about Star Trek's 50th anniversary. :) I'm able to enjoy the newer stuff for what it is, but yeah, I really do love Trek most for the forward-looking idealism and faith in humanity that was such a huge part of Roddenberry's vision. I'd love to see a Trek reboot that really saw that and worked to recapture that spirit.

Shame about the music divide between you and your mate! We aren't all into the same stuff in my household, but the gap isn't usually quite that great! Neat track as far as I'm concerned though. ^^

Star Trek's USS Discovery is coming to TV next year. I don't hold any hopes or aspirations for it since there has not been good Star Trek since the early 90s, but we'll see.

And yessssssssssss... Temsa. <3 What a lovely male he is - and believe me, those feet of his are very, very teasing. I'm sure he would adore the chance to get to explore a floof dragon.

Yeah, I'm curious about the Discovery stuff, and will be interested to see the approach they take. But yeah, given the direction Trek has been going in lately I don't have a lot of expectation that it'll capture the cerebral idealism of the old Roddenberry stuff. But we'll see, and I'll be happy if it's enjoyable for whatever it is.

Agreed, Temsa's feets are awesome. ^^ And I certainly would not object!

*nodsnods* Some of the people behind the new Trek are very much the visionary folk that Roddenberry worked with and know his ideals, but... I dunno. We'll see. The retarded push nowadays for too much drama, too much "grey" and too much unnecessary action stand in the way of it. We'll just have to wait and see.

*chuckles* Yeah, I can very NOT see you ever objecting. You'd only do that if you know he'd get more dommy as a result. *smirks*

That's encouraging to hear at least... maybe we'll get lucky. :) The world does seem very big right now on everything being loud crazy action and or really dark and grim and gritty. There's a place for that I suppose, but it's never what I came to Star Trek for. It'd be nice to see Trek stand out as something special again!

*grins* True... that would be the one thing that could get me at least pretending to object. ;D

*nods* Aye - dark and gritty was never what Star Trek was supposed to be. That's one reason I never got into Deep Space Nine - suddenly it was so much darker, with so much more "grey" areas than previous Trek, and it just didn't feel right. That kinda set the direction for the future stuff which kept doing the same. :(

*snickers* And you know that "pretending to object" would be a very short event on your part, right?

Yeah, agreed. There's a lot I do enjoy about DS9, and if you can accept some of the 'grey' there are a few episodes that I think are incredibly well done, but I'm always of two minds about it since it does feel like quite a departure from what Trek originally was. So it's tricky. And since then it does feel like Trek has kind of stayed in that niche.

Hehe, yeah, as you say... Doreys pretending to object to things they don't actually mind.... this never lasts very long!

*nods* Yeah, DS9 had some good episodes here and there. I think that's an interesting point though - if it weren't Trek, it would stand on it's own much better as a different show were the grim tones and grey stuff would have fit better.

Yeah... I especially think of 'In the Pale Moonlight' which is one of my favourite DS9 episodes. I think it's incredibly well done and thought-provoking, buuuuuut it's very very deep in the moral grey area, such that I have to wonder if it's one that would've made Roddenberry roll over in his grave for having the Star Trek name assigned to it. And yet I really love the episode! So it's tricky. I suppose my other DS9 favourite, Trials and Tribbleations, is probably a safer bet...

I don't recall that one - may or may not have seen it. Heh - the Tribbles throw-back one was my favourite DS9 since it involved so much of the original show. XD They did a really amazing job of that one.

It's one of the ones during the Dominion War, and Sisko deals with some dark choices and difficult ethical questions. I think it's one of the most brilliantly well-done and thought-provoking bits of DS9, but you can see why it sort of... doesn't fit the Roddenberry ideal But yeah, the Tribbles one was so much fun. ^^ A really fun way to reference and celebrate the original show, but it was also just fun, well-written, and you could tell everyone involved was just having a lot of fun with the whole thing.

Ahhhh, that one. Yeah, that had some dark stuff - but I actually didn't like it for that because Sisko made some dark/tough choices because of how poorly the whole conflict had been handled in the first place. :/ Like... think of it it this way - had it been Piccard or Kirk on that station, would the Dominion war have even gotten all that far? And yes, that Tribble episode was just pure fun for all involved. :3

Yeah, there's a lot about the entire setup that left you feeling like Starfleet as a whole could have handled things better somehow. I did like Sisko as a commander, but you do wonder how the others might've done things, and if it might not have been possible to avert the war somehow.

But yes, at the other end of the spectrum, the Tribble one was just good honest fun. :)

*chuckles* Aye - Kirk would have of course taken the war to the Dominion and found a way to crush them. Piccard would have been more forwardly diplomatic, but in the end like found a way to humiliate THEN crush them. XD

*grins* Yeah... good captains. ^^ That's one thing I've always loved through the various ages of Star Trek is that each captain has had their own style and approach, but all ended up being really admirable people in their own ways.

Yep yep! Seeing the different command-takes on things is what really made it interesting to me.
