Alright people, I’m really divided now. This strawpoll is clearly saying “Yes ! we people want sound on your videos !”.
However, the majority of comments are saying “some would be better without”. A lot of people are praising the work done on “Jurassic reproduction”, but are finding Mangle time very meh. So if I was to listen to people, I should just choose which scenes will have sound, and which ones will not.
Except I can’t do that, because when I work on sounds, I make sure it’s not bothering ME first, and to be frank, it never had. So I’m not the best judge on it I’m afraid.
I've also been told to put a "slider" on the SWF file. Problem is I can't. My SWF files are NOT coming from a flash program. They are directly converted from an AVI file, they are basically only videos but in a different format. They can't be interractive, and no, I won't put the effort to download a flash program to put it on it and then learn how to code a slider to re-encode again the whole thing like I'm not already putting enough effort in the video itself.
Another thing, those SWF file are nothing but previews to the real videos, which is why they are very low in quality and links to external sites are provided in the description EVERYTIME. Over there, you'll be able to enjoy my creation in a much better quality, and (surprise, surprise !) with a slider provided by the site ! :D
The more I think about it, the more it feels this is a field where I can’t win. I make sounds, sometimes I happen to miraculously make something amazing, but mostly, it will remain cheasy and medium, due to all the reasons I already stated in the last post (that being said, when someone like servantesnc tells me my sounds on Mangle time are “pretty good overall”, I can’t help but feel proud ! Thanks sound senpai !)
So I will try something else. My next scenes will be soundless. I’ll be “free” of matching a proper acting to the sounds and will be able to extend to more than the usual 1m10 / 20.
Do I quit sound ? Definitly not, the “yes” are clearly destroying the “no” in the strawpoll. But I did abandonned a lot of ideas to me not being able to get the sound somewhat right, and I don’t want that to happen to this next one.
One last thing, I’ve been told to post an announcement for a proper voice actress. Well I did, some month ago, and I basically got 0 answers (maybe 1 or 2 perhaps that never happened), that kinda destroyed my moral at the time, questionning my will to continue porn. Plus, my economical situation has never been this low, so I can’t afford to pay an actress :(
Hope everything is setting up. Once again, for those who don’t want sound, my only suggestion is to lower the computer sound. This is as much as I can do.

You're twisting yourself into knots to do something you can't do, i.e. make everyone happy. If you're happy with it, put it out there, and the 10% that are butthurt can be butthurt. Just keep producing and keep improving your skills

there is a sweet spot between that (which can easily lead to being an egotistical douche) and being a slave to what you think people want. Interesting that nobody has any gripes with the quality of the animation, which should tell you something. It's possible they just need something to bitch about, who knows...
I know there's some where the sound used was spot on, and IIRC the comments reflected that. I would just keep putting out my product and let people whine, but if you still want to tear yourself up extensively, could always look back at the ones where people raved about the audio and listen for what those ones had that the whinier ones didn't.
As a last resort you could just do the sounds yourself and wash it through any decent audio package to do some pitch shifting . . . .
( Like SoundForge or Audition or the like )
