Lil life update

It's been a lean four years, but now that hubby's got full-time-with-bennies employment again, we have moved back to Virginia. Between our daughter's school schedule, and kid-sitting family members being so far away, and the added cost of flying, doing west coast cons will be next to impossible.
I'm doing a bit of research on east coast conventions, since if I can drive to them, I may be able to do them. (I miss Fur Fright.)
Anyone have any east coast conventions they'd recommend? I prefer conventions with more of an artistic focus, I'm not into the party scene. :-V Just putting that out there.
Sort of related, I'd appreciate it if people could tell me which conventions still do mail in submissions for art shows.
Hope everyone's doing well!

If you want a Furry convention that's relaltively close, there's Fur the More in MD and Furry Weekend Atlanta. Small Press Expo (comics) is in MD.
Furpocalypse, Halloween weekend in Cromwell, CT. (ten or so miles south of Hartford) Halloween themed con that took over from Furfright when the chair of furfright left fandom and took the name with him. Larger than ANE, but has been overcrowding the hotel for a couple years now. attendance around 1400. Rumors of a new hotel starting in 2017 abound, but no hard data. Suburban location, there are several hotels within a five or so mile radius. Parking is tight at the main hotel, but usable. Dealers room and artists alley but no art show.
I'd look into local fairs and festivals nearby. If you can crank out a quicky drawing for someone in a few minutes, or of mom's kids, you can sell a lot of those. Furry fandom is no longer the weird little ghetto it used to be.
