This side Means im annoyed or something || In the middle means im fine, my usual self || Right side means im Upset/Depressed/Sad.ect
im not a Artist myself, but I have seen it myself MANY times.
You cant solenly have your art to pay for rent and things in life
ya know? You just cant Rely on Commissions for life.
yo gotta have a job/part time job somewhere umongst it it to.
Event the most popular Artists Struggle paying for rent and food and
Hospital Expenses or what ever it may be, Yes it does help
but sometimes its not enough, so you would need to get some form
of outside the fandom job to get money in to.
I even seen some people get kicked out of their own homes or
places they are renting cause they dont have enough to stay there.
im not saying getting commissions is a bad thing,
im just simply saying that You SHOULDNT Rely getting money
JUST on commissions, no one cant exactly live on Commissions for life.
i have seen the good and bad sides of this on people.
but thats my thoughts i guess..

Katie Hofgard or Wolf-Nymph is one of them.
I will agree that one cannot just expect it to work for them even if it works for others, not until they get a reliable clientele that can sustain them. It is more for people who are still just getting into commissions and don't have the constant reliable client base to pool from.
But even so, I just think, even with a Stable work flow, it still helps to get a normal job/part time job to help with the money ya know?

But you know why they can do it?
Because they are popular, internet- (and not just internet) famous.
People recognise them and they want to get their art or creations.
There are people who do that. But to be able to support yourself fully on your art you need to be a professional in your field, be it art or figurine creation. And you need to be known.
So for your art to start paying off you should work, work and work, attend conventions, show your stuff, make seasonal commissions or anything like that. And then people will start coming for you.
Or draw porn, but that is another story.
Basically, you need to know how to present yourself to the public that people would find you and your art appealing.
I feel like you've just seen the downside examples of people who tried to do that, yet failed, yes, there are many of them, way too many, but not all people fail, you know?
And then if art gives you more...
Also, was it directed at a person I know?
so basically have a backup just incase something happens.
