I'm from Buffalo too... there's a few things to do, you just need to know where to look. If you like bars you can go to Allen street, it's a more chill atmosphere than Chippewa.

If he wants wings you can go to Duff's on Sheridan if you want to try something other than the Anchor Bar.

Transit Road has one of the few drive-in movie theaters still left (it's called, appropriately enough, the Transit Drive-in). You can bring a cooler of snacks and it's a fun night.

There's the Albright-Knox art gallery, they have a well regarded modern art collection. There's the zoo or the science museum too if you want to try one of those things.

Buffalo also has alot of small theathers showing plays. I don't know if there's anything showing right now but you can google for it. You can also see if the Philharmonic Orchestra has a show.
