Gonna do a Q&A journal while I get in gear today. I'm havin one of those inexplicably anxious days and feelin kinda awful, and I could use some casual jabbering about myself or art. Indulge me?
The worst tool to work with is an unreasonably entitled customer get it
but no, in seriousness uh... I don't like oil paints and thus never use them. Bc there's 80 million steps and things you gotta do right or they dry fucked up or peel or w/e.
Loose glitter is also satan's spawn.
Ah. I know you know I don't like baby's first pen aka crayons but I ABSOLUTLY cannot stand vine charcoal. It's messy, horribly inconsistent, a nightmare to work with, a pain to erase and super easy to break and fuck up with.
Heck, at least compressed charcoal is somewhat competent to work with and in consistency...
compressed charcoal is a frickin nightmare! vine charcoal is where it's at. You gotta break your stick in half first thing though, and you can p much just swipe your hand and it's erased. I'm still cleaning compressed charcoal out of my shit years later.
I must have the thickest and darkest vibe charcol their is because every eraser I have (plastic, kneaded, hell my Faber Castel perfection which can cut through ink no problem) can't even pick up the residue from my vine charcol. Yeah compressed doesn't come off either, but it doesn't chancge it's thickness every two freaking strokes
yeah I don't use the soft vine. I like medium or hard. Also the line thickness changing is part of why I love it lol, you use it for expression and character. Although vine really usually only is a sketch for me since it comes off so easily, I paint or conte over it.
Older Classics? Lord I'm not sure how old I can go because my lack of knowledge of classics tends to stun and horrify my friends.
I always loved the Batman w Jack Nicholson as the Joker. Uh... The Terminator was a fucking fantastic movie I loved that shit. I think it aged very well actually. Who Framed Roger Rabbit probably fucking influenced who I grew up to be as a kid. Duuude A Clockwork Orange was so fucked but so good?
I actually had to google movies in the 70s and 80s to remember these lol
I guess Who Framed Roger Rabbit would be my fav of the bunch.
But looking at the others it's easy to see why I loved things like Law Abiding Citizen and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and the design porn of Mad Max Fury Road
Mad Max Fury road is one of the best movies that've recently came out- pretty much everything you've listed is great. Terminator's my favorite out of all of those. I personally think the art direction and the use of practical effects over CGI is part of why Mad Max was so good. I admit when I think of scifi I take a llllllooot of inspiration from Alien and Blade Runner- out of everything, lo-fi hi tech scifi is my favorite genre. (Stuff like CRT monitors on spaceships.)
Are you excited for anything that's coming out soon? Video games, movies, books, that kind of thing.
Oh boy uh....? probably any humanoid thing really ironically. I love drawing fantrolls and late stages humanoid digimon. I guess I also like drawing the standard canine face. Monster girls?? Elven demigods with multiple arms. Sparkledogs oh my gosh. Weird ass nonsensical mashups like... shark eagle lion. I guess that includes chimeras and fuck yeah multiple heads.
either tbh. I can use paper for art afterwards or save all 8 million plastic bags for kitty litter and various item transporatation or storage needs. And I mean I do use them up.
get it
