Washington to be hit by big storms
Im a catdog, if i bark, i also meow. So there!
So there's lots of news about some really bad weather headed toward Washington and this comes from remnant typhoon Songda. They say power will most likely go out due to high (hurricane like) winds and they're saying some flooding is likely to happen due to a lot of rain.
They say 3 storms will be hitting us this weekend starting tonight, but the big concern is the typhoon.
Im only a dozen miles inland from the straight of Juan da Fucua
I have flash lights and non perishable food and plenty of water in case the power goes out which is pretty damn likely whether i want it to or not.
This sucks cause i have commissions to work on and when the power does go out, sure i can sew by flashlight but i wont be able to use my hot glue gun or sewing machine or clippers or anything electronic i need to work.
And if the power is out longer than 24hrs, my fish will be in danger.
So im hoping the storms aren't bad enough that i lose power. But if i do then there wont be any streaming til the weather gets calm and i'll be bored out of my mind.

FA+

Anyway stay safe.
I'm one of those people that tries to plan for things ahead of time. So I have a number of battery powered lights for when the power goes out, a camp stove for cooking and the like. Little things make power outages not that big of a deal.
I don't know how big your fish tank is but a jump starter and a small 100 watt inverter will power your air pump it will also power things like 12 volt LED lights for a very long time. I have a Harbor Fright jump starter right by my desk all charged up and ready to go.
The last bad storm at the beginning of the year i lost power for 12 hours.
I have batteries for flashlights and a small radio, i have no perishable food and a case of water. I personally am ready for the power to go out when it does, but i have nothing prepared to keep my fish from suffering if the power is out longer than 15hrs.
also i dont know what an inverter is or a jump starter.
I just hope that when and if the power goes out, it wont be for too long
A jump starter is one of these http://www.harborfreight.com/3-in-1.....ter-62306.html It seems about every month these go on sale or you can get a discount coupon off their website. You plug it into the wall to recharge it, it give you 12 volt dc power that will power small loads for a long time like a car charger for you phone or tablet. As well as 12 volt lights and the like.
An Inverter take 12 volts dc and steps it up to 120 volts household power. This is a low power inverter http://www.harborfreight.com/80-wat.....ter-66944.html This will work on the above when fully charged for about 1.5 to 2 hours if you are using about half load that would be about what a tank air pump would draws as I remember.
I have a solar power setup that I use to keep it charged when I can't charge it at home. Yes I am a bit of a gear head and enjoy tinkering with stuff.
I hope that helped you
Blessings femm
All my gadgets are charged and when the wind gets bad enough i will turn my computer off.
Thank you for your help
The winds are picking up and the rain comes and goes... Sounds more like November than middle of October...
I'm glad I could be of help. Oh, Mouse and I found a blanket made out of Reflectix http://www.homedepot.com/p/Reflecti.....4025/100020855 worked very well on her tanks when we lost the power there in Marrysville. We made it like a tent to go over the whole tank like a tea cozy. We also found it really made camping more enjoyable when it was chilly.
