Maybe I'm carrying the idea of data security
a bit too far. On my old computer when Windows
decided to eat itself and I wound up having
to do a 'clean install' which meant losing years and
years of furry porn I'd collected, I vowed not to be
held hostage to the vagaries of internal hard-drives
again and got an external hd to back up everything
to. A new computer replaced that old HP and a
larger external drive replaced the old kind of
small (500 gb) external drive. Still I thought, "drives
fail" even external ones and one day my files will
go 'thud'. So I just bought a blu-ray burner drive and
found a source for relatively inexpensive media and
am backing up everything to 25gb disks, but I
still keep thinking...do I need a tape drive for
triple redundancy?
