How popular is halloween in your area?

Sadly even tho Halloween is my favorite holiday...around my area barely anyone celebrates it because of stupid town laws.
like no one over the age of like 14 or something is "allowed" to go. no one can stay longer then 7pm
it's just a shitfest on how much they ruined it....
basically it's just turned into a shit version of Halloween where fucking parents parade their toddlers in the newest movie fad costume and steal their candy afterwards. =/
there are no unique costumes barely anyone over the age of 10 goes. no one even decorates or gets candy anymore.
AND heaven forbid you scare any of the kids on Halloween, it's meant to be "kid" friendly, which I find is ABSOLUTE BULLSHIT.
*table flip* all the holidays are ruined by now. Christmas is just a cash grab, halloween has been baby-fied. valentines day is just the day to give gifts to your lover so that's not too bad i guess.

But where my friend lives, we dress up and make it a point to scare children. Or better yet, scare bratty teens that try to take us on.
You'd be amazed at how terrified some people get when a werewolf jumps down from the top of a camper and goes running after them with a blood curdling howl! And lots of red syrup for blood going EVERYWHERE!!! oh, and candy that her family buys for us...
The sugar rush had nothing to do with out antics, though. We normally dig into it after we're done harassing the "innocent" people. Last year, though, we wound up staying in because it was raining, so instead we got drunk, played CaH in costumes, and then marathoned Supernatural until like 8 in the morning >.>;;
But, yeah, you can hear the screams, the music, and the fun until early in the morning where she lives. Which is why I spend Halloween over there, when I can. But with it being on a week day this year, I am thinking I'll skip out on the actual festivities and instead will be in the woods looking for critters.
It's one of those holidays, much like April Fool's Day, that I feel like I should enjoy, but then immediately remember that it's actually one of the days I hate the most for one very simple reason: The stupid people celebrate it too. I start off having plans, thinking "This is the one day of the year I can [insert something funny here]", but then immediately lose all taste for after the 100th asshole has refused to take his mask off in a store or followed after a bunch of kids dressed as a creepy clown.
If it was like it is on Homestar Runner or The Big Bang Theory, I'd be all over it. But no, I have to celebrate it with a bunch of brain-dead assholes and I hate every bloody second of it.
Its actually weird sometimes we get a few one year, several another year, or none, but for a while we used to get no one even if we decorated, because our house used to be my grandmother's on my mom's side(she lives up in the carolinas now) and she's very Christian, and was one of those that thought that halloween was the devils work or something like that(She's really nice but she can be a bit religous, but not in a bad way) , so that kinda scared everyone away for a while.
it spread to canada.
and it's been in my area. and STILL is.
