Plus the factor that she has to deal with her family mostly by herself (One of the members being a sociopathic and higly unstable A.I machine)... The constant nightmares and loneliness possibily dragging the worse even out of a reasonable and scientific mind. Her "past self" tryng to resurface to retake partial controll...

Me thinks this could also work for sort of a fight scene between her and her lover...
