The Game. [A Random Rant]

No, I did not just lose The Game. This is about an entirely different Game. Its the Game of people, of life, and of interactions.
I've been thinking about it a lot recently, and My friend Amanda and I discuss it frequently. You see, The Game is quite simple. The ability to slide your way into someone's life and gain more power over it that they hardly realize you have. That, is The Game.
Everyone plays The Game in school; The machinations of cliques are the basis of it. Its how our world works back then. There are those who excel at The Game, and those who are taken out of it at the beginning. Now, what are the consequences of 'losing' The Game in school?
Your world is turned upside down. You lose friends. But its nothing, really. Like being hit by a spitball, The Game is inconsequential.
The Trouble comes in when those of us who are good, who made it through school by virtues of The Game... When we reach Adulthood, Losing can be much more hurtful. Losing can throw your life off balance; Losing Friends, Jobs, homes. Like many things when you grow older, The Game leaves a deeper mark.
I played The Game. I played it longer than I'd care to remember, and I was always good. And then I hit a point, when I realized; The Game sucks. There is no winning. In cases where two "Players" meet (Which happens often, We are drawn together) one can out play the other, but its an endless cycle.
Its like some kind of modern Highlander. The Game brings us together and throws us into conflict; Where one emerges 'Triumphant', and the other is left behind. What happens when there is but one Player left?
I don't know, but whatever 'prize' there is to play, I don't want it. I gave up The Game, and as such, I think I might have actually been a Winner. It feels nice, to stop treating life like its high school....
