Actually icing it might be better (Ice pack, cooling cream, etc). Based off personal experience with similar neck pains, trying to cool it down has worked best.

I'd also suggest seeing a chiropractor once you can start to move it a bit again. They can do wonders. Had the same problem and he suggested icing and then popped it once it could move again.

Oh dear. Looks like everyone already posted some good advice, but I'd recommend just resting. Ice or heat packs work well on stiffness like that. If you're taking painkillers, then just let them do their magic and sleep for a few hours if you can help it.

Sorry to hear your in so much pain. I feel ya. I get neck pains every winter. Sucks. Try soaking in Epsom salt and hot water. Also try wrapping your neck in a towel to keep cold air of it. Hope that helps to alleviate some of the pain.

Looking into doing some neck exercises to prevent further pain in the future.

My physiotherapist told me we often get pain in our neck and back from not moving at our desk for too long, causing the bones to start to fuse and hurt when we finally do move.

I used to have bad back pain from sitting at work and had to take drugs.
At therapy my physiotherapist used his thumb to separate my vertebrae, hurt so much to free my spine. Plus he taught me some exercises.

Now at work every hour I twist my hips from side to side 20 times. It only take a minute and now I have no more back pain and I no longer need the drugs.

Try slowly rotating your head every hour for a few seconds.

But for now forget about the commissions and get better.

dang man, i remember i had that kinda pain once, I could barely turn my head at all, i recommend resting your head and neck on a temperpedic pillow.

I honestly have had this pain myself when i was younger and i didn't like it one bit.
