Alright, I'm looking for an olderish computer game and need some help.

Here's what I can remember:
It's a space game. I can't really remember the story, but I know there are different factions and one happens to be a church or religion or some such. You start off getting to select a ship from a few different ones, then you select a crew, then weapons. The insignia of one of the factions that I remember is a hawk or something like that... And the starting ships are this one really flat looking ship with I think blue and gray paint, another with yellows and whatnot. Then there where some cargo ships...

One thing I remember about the crew was you could take, I believe, a psy type person and something like an acolyte...

Bleh, that's about all I can remember. You flew around in space, went through jump gates and did trading and what not.
The closest game to it I could find was one called Darkstar One, but that's not what the game was cause this is too new....

But anyway, if anyone out there can help I'd really appreciate it!
