Yeah... the entire reason things have gotten as bad as they are is because a lot of people checked out and allowed themselves to be uninformed. And saying "I'm tired of hearing about this" to uncomfortable topics, whether because "I don't understand them" (often from the right) or "that's offensive" (from the left and the religious sorts), that's just making the problem worse. And more importantly: doesn't make the original problem go away.

Perfect example: climate change, a world-wide, humanity-shaking problem that WE NEED TO DEAL WITH, as a species... but try and tell people that? Well you get:
"barg, it ain't real, it's a conspiracy from china/big science, don't talk about it to me" - conservative
"Don't talk about that: it's offensive to my religion, god won't let us die" - religious
"Don't talk about that: because it's disproportionally effecting black people, that's more important than doing something about it" - social justice sort

The average human is not smart: that's how many people respond to something that COULD end our way of live, now just try and get them to pay attention to shit that doesn't matter nearly that much, almost impossible. And getting angry at the few people who are calling attention to this shit is just attacking the wrong target. It's burrying your head in the sand instead of doing something about the problem.

There's always the positive side - everyone will likely be agreeing about climate warming withing the next 40 to 50 years. By then, it will be obvious to even the most uneducated people.
