Shirts?
Hey guys, I need a little help with figuring out...shirts.
My school has a hand printing studio that we're allowed to use. On my free time I played around with making some prints and showed it to some friends. They thought I should try selling them (since getting a job is like impossible for anyone now a days).
Only problem is...I really don't know how to price this if I we're to sell them.
I plan on doing a few test runs with the Raffle winners to see if I'm capable of making the shirts in a timely manner. So after I'm done that, feel free to judge if the idea for the prices and ideas I've kinda thought up are good.
1)Now, Shirts aren't all to hard to find for me. They range from 8-12 dollars so lets just round it to about 10 dollars.
2)Shipping the shirts is another story. Depending on where I'm shipping it to, it could cost anywhere from 3 dollars to 20. I'll have to discuss the price of this part with whoever I'm selling the shirt to.
3) For the special paper I need to use to print on is usually around 1 dollar a sheet so depending on how many colours are in the print will effect this price as well
4) I have to pay for the Inks as well. I think my school provides the Black and White inks for a cheap price but other colours might cost a little more. I was thinking of charging around 5-10 dollars per colour
.
5) The image on the shirt will have to be a provided by the buyer. Now I know there is a huge deal with Copywriting and stealing other works, so let me say now that I've looked this up and as long as I give credit to whoever owns the picture and don't sell it to anyone but the person who commissioned it from them then I am fine to print.
I will not print shirts that are made by other people or franchises. If you wanna get a MLP Rainbow Dash shirt that you saw at hot topic from me, then your better off just getting it from Hot topic lol.
I will also say I DO NOW OWN THE IMAGE AND CLAIM NO RIGHTS TO IT as well. I do not want to cause any trouble with this. I merely would like to just print pictures on shirts. I'm sure there's at least one picture everyone wants to print on a shirt, right?
6)Lastly is the time I put into making a shirt. I don't want to charge too much for this but with having to pay for most of the materals I still need to make some money. I was thinking that a flat price for the shirt would be 15 dollars from me just working on it alone.
If I were to hypotheticly make a shirt for myself that had 4 colours and needed to be shipped to my house, the price would roughly be between 55-65 dollars. (10 for shirt, 20-30 for ink, 5 for shipping, 15 for working on it, 5 for paper)
Dose that sound like a good price? Let me know so I can try to work something out XP
Thanks for reading!
