Guns

So, here's a question . .
Why are people allowed to show pics of their guns on this site?
I thought this was supposed to be more or less an art community, not a show and tell of deadly weaponry.
People have thought I'm too sensitive about guns, when they are just aiding a culture of guns.
I'm not debating whether they should be legal or not, just, why do I hae to see them everywhere and why are people so cozy with them? It's a bit disturbing.

Also, I think the subject matter should matter.
And I think it's pretty rational not to be showing that shit off willy-nilly. These are devices that are designed to kill things. Also, drama? please, no matter what happens there will be drama. And I'm beyond tired of people who have killing weapons crying because people feel threatened by them. Drama from gun-lovers is pretty much expected from anything you try to do, say or touch involving their weapons that is not in THEIR viewpoint. And talk about censorship? I feel fucking censored EVERY TIME I TALK ABOUT GUNS. like my opinion is never valid, and that I'm a horrible person. and I'm not the one who needs a weapon and very, VERY loose interpenetration of a Constitutional amendment to feel accurate in the face of ignorance.
I also apologze for any loopiness I'm dealing wit h a massive headcold at the moment =3=
The rule has been changed for quite a while now that you may have photography (yes, even someone pointing guns at the screen is still photography even if you don't like it or consider it art worthy. That's subjective) on your page.
But some people like guns. Just like some like fursuits or Pokémon cards. It just doesn't seem too weird for someone to photograph something they like. My best friend who is a gun collector and very often photographs his collection.
I just find it silly and a huge generalization to act as if it's some show of power. Maybe they just like guns? I like em. If I were to take a photo it'd be, "look at this thing I like and have so many of" not "ha ha lookit me and how tough I am"
And just because you've seen a lot of one thing, doesn't mean the other doesn't exist. Like I said, I personally like guns and would collect them myself if given the funds and the chance to. It's a hobby.
And a gun isn't an adult oriented thing so comparing it to genitalia doesn't really work there. A gun is an item, just because you personally hold a negative implication to it doesn't mean the item itself is of adult content. Just like people can show pictures of their cars and such, they're able to show pictures of guns.
Genitalia is blocked for the simple fact that it carries it's own set of laws and regulations on hosting, on top of the fact here it's very easy to have a minor view something. It's one thing for them to see furry dick, it's another to let them see actual penis.
Banning the photography of guns would auto assume that this is an item that upon viewing, could potentially cause issue. And just having a gun in a photograph does NOT do that. The only implications it has, are personal implications you are placing upon it. Not general implications inherent by just the item itself. My best friend has a very big collection of guns, his father restores old ones and places them on display. My friend is a responsible adult with licenses and lockers and knows the responsible ownership of his weapons. If he so decides to take a picture of say, an old rifle and it's craftsmanship, it doesn't cease to be an acceptable photograph just because the item in said photograph has the potential for danger.
And yes, there are a bunch of places where one can place any type of photo. But the rule is, anything goes. And that does fall under the category of photography and if you ask certain circles, qualifies as art as it's subjective to the party beholding it. Yeah it's kinda...silly to see someone posing like a billy bad ass with his giant rifles pointed at the sky. We're all thinking the same thing when we see that, but that doesn't make the photograph inappropriate in and of itself. Now if the description or the caption or the person inside said photo was doing something obviously hateful and harmful, then yeah, but that would be the case of whatever they were doing or whatever they wrote, not because of the gun itself.
I should also say, generally, pics of guns themselves are not BAD, if it is for hobby/history, but pics of open carry and people shamelessly pointing guns at the screen, effigies and windows, ceilings, etc, that might be an issue. my general issue is the normality of guns that sort of enables this behavior. I think it would be better to just not have them in a place that isn't dedicated to them because of the gravity they carry.
Side Note: I also think if you keep pics of guns more normalized to places that cater to it owned by more RESPONSIBLE gun owners, irresponsible behavior might be better controlled.
If I used that same line of logic, I'd have to say that Bout literally anyone who thought "this looks cool" and I'm not about to make baseless assumptions about someone just cuz I don't like the gun.
