Thoughts of the Rada! Kingspine, the collaborative comic between myself and Sly is intended to be an ongoing project. It's meant to be several issues spanning 12-20 pages per issue. Unsure how many issues of course, but there's a lot of story to tell and a lot of characters to introduce. A single page takes many hours worth of work though. I plan on opening up a patreon to help cover my living expenses while I work on this project. Eventually, if I get enough support, I'd like to have a website for the comic alone. I want the comic to be free to view for all, so don't worry about not getting to see it. However, I do need find ways of making this profitable if I'm going to manage to keep it going.
Here's some ideas I've had, and I'd like to hear any feedback you may have regarding them:
-Tails From the Ball and Chain is a planned spinoff comic, which I plan starting after the second issue of the comic hits. While Kingspine will have sexual coverage and various kinks, it is not intended to be a smut comic alone. Sly and I have spent many months detailing exactly what kind of world we wanted to build, what plot to devise, and what characters we'd have to move the narrative. As such, one of the locations to be shown later in the comic, and referenced in my artwork, will be receiving a more sexual and kinky comic of its own; The Ball and Chain.
The issue is that I'm not entirely sure if I want that comic free to view. Patreon supporters I'm thinking may gain access. Unfortunately I very much am opposed to making exclusive content, especially when it's so elaborate as a comic series. From a business standpoint, however, this might be the best way to get subscribers. If this does become a thing, I promise to keep the reward tier very low, like $5 a month.
-Kingspine is home to many, many diverse characters of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds. You need look no further than the Ball and Chain Roster to get an idea of how diverse a culture it is. As such, I will be drawing a LOT of background characters. No easy task, trying to come up with unique and diverse characters and their equally different outfits. So my plan is to make appearance in the comic a reward tier. bearing in mind such an appearance would simply be characters on a sidewalk, or a park bench, completely inconsequential to the story. Going back to the Spinoff comic, should it be a different reward tier to be included in the more sexually involved spinoff?
-Streams. I'm no stranger to them, I've done many streams with mixed results. Sometimes I have empty rooms, maybe one viewer will pop in and remain utterly silent. Sometimes it'll be bustling with old and new watchers alike, mixed conversations covering all sorts of topics. Inconsistency however makes me tentative about the possibility of offering exclusive streams. As incentive, what I would like to do is offer such streams but with the intent of only drawing what the viewership requests. I wouldput down current projects and commissions and simply draw for entertainment, and those that support me will also get something fun out of it.
-Lastly, group chat inclusion. This one again I feel tentative as friendships and the like can make it a mixed bag, and I don't want anyone to feel treated unfairly. The core idea I'm presenting is to have supports be able to join a group chat, be it through Skype, Discord, or if I absolutely must get it to do this, Telegram, where backers can submit ideas and insights to the comic. I'll be honest, any such ideas will probably take a back seat when it comes to Kingspine, because as I said prior, Sly and I have spent a long, long time working on this story. However, this tier would have access to Tails from the Ball and Chain, which is flexible and non-canon, and such requests I feel ought to be commonplace for its content.
