Art streams are really slow pacing and nothing compared to the gaming industry in quantity. No wonder it's no match to gaming streams and it will be never mainstream.

Hm, honestly not too sure. While twitch & youtube are dominating gaming & the more general liveblogging side of streaming, I honestly dont see anything in the near future pushing Picarto out of the Art stream field. As much as we all love art and interacting with our fave creators, yeah there's no way in my mind art streams are going to be as popular as gaming, we are more slow paced, involved in production over entertainment. Of course if your an entertaining personality & can either educate or entertain people for several hours a time WHILE creating artwork, then I dont think its impossible to get a good following, the gaming stuff is just easier.

I remember someone telling me recently that Picarto added support for gaming streams (reduced the lag to better suit stream a video game)

I think i like picarto the way it is... i'm not really too keen on mainstream people who have no idea what furry art is about coming into my stream and potentially starting shit (though i do think genuine curiosity is great and i'd encourage that, i think trolls are probably more common, especially in the gaming "community"...)

In other words, it's nice having a place that's just for art :D

There are a lot of platforms out there. Picarto is a very basic platform but for the most part I like it a whole lot more than some of the others.

Its all about the lack of patience, and due a ever dwindling attentionspan of people they attend to more BOOM and WUBWUB per minute.
Art cannot satify those needs.

I like picarto. I moved over from livestream to it a while back. There's more of a community.

I think I'd have to agree with ECMajor in the sense that ... mixing 'mainstream' crowds with furry porn is probably not the greatest idea. Picarto has a great set of tools to keep folks interested and while you aren't going to attract a whole lot of folks simply by turning on your stream like you would with Twitch, you will have a consistent audience of folks that are like-minded. Multi-streaming like you did with ECMajor (where I discovered you) definitely can help get you more followers and such, though, as long as folks enjoy what you are producing!

Unfortunately there just isn't a whole lot of other places to go ... Livestream turned to garbage. Twitch is mainly for gaming and I definitely don't think porn is an alright subject matter there. Furstre.am I think is another option but I don't know a whole lot about it.

I don't think anyone is suggesting a direct transplantation from twitch to picarto, but there is a huge untapped art community, and even the furry community's uptaking seems pretty slow. I guess I'm just wondering if there's something I'm missing that more people would be interested in watching

Unfortunately I think the thing that attracts the most 'furries' is the lure of free art. I might suggest making an image submission to post up when you stream as well because many folks have journals turned off and an image will appear in the 'latest submissions' area for everyone to see.

As to actual content ... I think games will always have artwork beat simply because with a game you always have something exciting ... action, plot, etc ... but with artwork you often have a very long, slow process of watching something come to life. People are so varied, though, that it's hard to peg any one lump of them into a single box. Perhaps mix up your stream content if that is something you want to do? Create a wider audience with more diversity of content.

well reynad did a great video on how to build a channel, it'd be harder on any "non-biggest" platform ofcourse, picarto is just so much smaller than twitch. Not sure it's untapped though, people know about streams and can find all the arts if they want. I like the Beam art community though it's another site with limits on adult content, booo.

Picarto is definitely my preference.
