It's still not working, as far as I can tell. Using Chrome, and I checked to make sure the extension was updated to 1.0.4

Clicking the + does nothing. Even after checking the filtered artist list to confirm that it was added, hitting "Save" and then F5'ing, it's still not filtering.

Okay, I think I figured out the issue.

I had someone named "]-[3l" filtered. Removing that causes the extension to work properly.

...Is that the exact username? what the heck, that's crazy. XD I'll have to come up with some other way to check for that, hmm.

I dunno, I never really check my filter list, I just click away. That name was in the filter list, and when I removed it, it fixed the extension.

Thanks for finding that use case though! That should be fixed now, at least for Chrome. Firefox is gonna take a while to update itself.

It also seems very buggy on the Flash page. I've already got a few people here filtered, but they're showing up anyway. People who I don't have filtered, it correctly shows the + and - when I mouse over and I can properly filter them, but people who are already on my filter list do not get filtered and the + and - do not show up when mousing over.

Oh, found the issue. It's because the submissions are labeled as Flash and not regular image.

It's not filtering Flashes, but there are always those few idiots who upload an image file into the Flash category, and so the submission is labeled as an image, and thus FilterAffinity filters it properly.

So the issue is that FilterAffinity is not properly filtering Flash submissions. Also doesn't seem to be filtering Story submissions, fwiw.

FilterAffinity works properly on Image submissions, but does not work at all on Flash submissions. (or Story submissions)

Ah, got it. That's an easy fix. These edge cases are hard to account for!

The previous filter I used also filtered out submissions that mentioned a user or keyword in the description. Is that something you think you could implement?

Sorry, but the way the descriptions are stored as a JS variable on the page makes it impossible for me to access them without getting the plugin banned, since I'd have to do some shady stuff to get it to work. It's just not gonna work, sorry!

I understand that. And, I'm glad that I work as a dev since I can understand it. ;3

On the one hand, it is good that they're being protective of the site. I just wish that they'd actually fix it instead of having to rely on third parties.

Found another bug, I think.

I noticed that sometimes, submissions in the user's message box would be filtered. Stumbled upon another today and looked into it.

I had the name "Aurorae" in my filter list, and the above submission was being filtered in my message center. When I removed "Aurorae", the submission was no longer filtered.

Any idea what's going on here? I tried filtering the names of other artists that appeared in my message center, and it didn't filter them, so I'm assuming that FilterAffinity filtering things in the message center is a bug.

Yeah, I need to make sure it doesn't try to filter on the submission page! Just haven't had time to change what pages it displays on yet, sorry!

Seems to be taking random parts of usernames filtered and using them to filter the submission name.

For example, I had "RoseTheUnicorn" filtered, and that was causing a submission named "Unicorn" to be filtered.

Any ETA on fixing FilterAffinity so it doesn't touch anything on the message center?

I've had an awful lot going on lately, so I've not been able to get around to working on any of this.

That being said, I was able to get a new version (1.1.0) out tonight, so once it goes through the approval process that should be up in Chrome, and in a few days for Firefox. I've even been able to improve the filtering to include the short popup descriptions for each submission, so hopefully people will find that useful as well!
