i live in new england and ive been denied heating assistance
9 years ago
…because we made less than 2000$ more last year than the program will assist.
mind you, we are -still- below the poverty line.
while we can probably (big probably) handle wood pellet costs ourselves, we use heating assistance to buy oil which runs our boiler. in other words: im lookin at a winter with no hot water.
also sometimes theres a shortage of heating pellets & they get rationed, and in those cases we Have to run the old steam heat system. this also runs off oil.
also no hot water means there is a much higher risk of pipes freezing. but hey, that extra 2000$ we made in 2015 is surely still in our bank accounts and surely can pay for any damages from pipes freezing and bursting right h a h a
isnt america great usa usa usa (fuckin end me)
anyway. if you want to help, pledging to my patreon is the best way.

I really hope things get better soon, hot water is a necessity up there. My grandma's pipes froze over once when we were living in MN and that was shit to deal with. :\
for now we can toss a few gallons of deisel in the tank to keep the water hot most of the time... but it sucks to stand out there pouring it into the tank, plus it's more pricey in the long run. pbbth pbbth classic poor person they-screw-ya-comin-and-goin catch 22
I'm sorry.
but do not worry about the Thing, work on your bills first man
our systems are p much set up in a way that just Keeps Ya Down once you're down
DHHS's solution? Make less or have children. UHHHHHH....?
if you want more assistance become More destitute. they know you're barely scraping by but if you start pulling ahead even the tiniest bit its 'fuck u'
Too harsh a system, but I can't think of a good way to correct it. At least not when it's near 3:00 A.M. x.o
8$ an hour

These are some places I just found online to help with the prices. If some one wants a pellet fireplace and has a wood insert, they might want to trade. That could save you a lot of cash.
The house my parents move in had a pellet stove and they paid $400.00 to pay for delivery and a small commission from the dealer to trade with a person who wanted a pellet and had a wood burning insert.

No hot water, but they help keep pipes from freezing with some extra foam insinuation on pipes.
