Spoiler-free review of "Passengers"

I just got back from the theatre, and wow, that was a good movie.
Beautiful cinematics, a well-made soundtrack, and some very interesting characters. The setting is in deep space, which is always a plus for me; equal parts amazingly beautiful and utterly terrifying.
Some really well-thought out scenes, but pretty realistic depictions of how dangerous a spaceship can be when things stop working. There are some details about the overally setting of this universe that are a bit sketchy, but overall, I feel you get told enough.
The ending might have been a bit cheesy, but after the whole rest of the Movie, I felt it was well-deserved.
Chris Pratt puts in an amazing performance of what a person in his situation would do. Some of his scenes are pretty heartbreaking.
Michael Sheen is amazing as always. Not easy to find a character who is a genuinely positive influence (with maybe one exception) throughout an entire movie, but he pulls it off. Personally, I think he makes a better android than Michael Fassbender's David character in Prometheus.
This is probably one of Jennifer Lawrence's best movies in my opinion. She plays a believable character who, like Pratt, is put in an impossible situation that nobody can really say what they would do in their place. It is slightly different than Pratt's, which I can't talk about without going into spoiler-territory, but it's very interesting to see how she reacts to a situation that is almost entirely identical. I found myself wondering how she would have acted if their positions had been reversed.
Lawrence Fishburne plays a small but good role with a character that moves the plot forward in interesting ways that would not have been possible without him, which to me is the sign of good writing.
Finally, I think this movie was brilliant for raising an extremely tough question: When put into a situation where there are only bad choices at hand, what would you do?
I give this movie a 8 or 9 out of 10. I could see myself watching this movie again. Maybe once more in the cinema and few more times on rental, but it's not something I'd dip into when I'm bored.
