If you don't have a professional looking suit, I recommend getting one. Make sure it's the right size for you and fits well, get some nice dress shirts and a couple ties. People judge you within the first 2 seconds of meeting you based on your appearance. The people who can help you most in your professional life will generally be impressed by someone who dresses well and want to like you, and once they want to like you, they're more inclined to see your successes and ignore your failures because of cognitive biases, and you generally need other people to like you to move up in the world.
