Happy New Year!

Well, as happy as you can make it ~
I'm excited to find my first job this year. Hopefully I can find something decent with my applied associates degree!
For me it's not a great New Year simply because of the incoming cabinet to my government. I am disgusted with Trump and his proposals and I am especially disgusted with his cabinet picks. More than anything I consider myself a progressive as I subscribe to progressivism - I vote largely based on pro scientific and environmental issues, with social issues following after. But this cabinet that's coming to the White House pretty much falls into one of three categories: army men, business moguls, or crusty right-wingers. The only pro-science agenda that has been mentioned so far as I know is support for NASA, but this overshadowed by the PEOTUS's shocking scientific illiteracy and just about everyone in his cabinet being a climate change denier (except for, ironically enough, the Exxon Mobil CEO - not that he cares about climate change, but he at least admits that it exists).
*sigh* Sorry for the rant, but I am deeply disturbed by the agenda of my incoming government, which includes a fat tax cut for the rich and unleashing regulations on fossil fuels. I might play a more active role in politics over the next four years. I really want the democratic party to focus more on economic growth through a revitalized education system that is failing much of America, especially in non-coastal states that aren't catching the wave of exploding computer sciences, and stop pretending that catering to social justice issues will make them unbeatable. I'd also love to see a candidate that admits that the war on drugs is a complete failure and that we need to change our course of action, but unfortunately neither party seems interested in doing that (while I don't oppose taxes I do oppose frivolous spending - and our spending on the war against drugs is perhaps the biggest money sink of all).
Perhaps I'll a journal explaining my thoughts in more detail sometime (despite the fact, yes I know, politics tends to be frowned upon around here).
Anyway, here's to 2017.
