Another year, another set of statistics from Last.FM. Here's what I have been listening to over the past year, most of which was recorded manually by my phone, since Winamp is fundamentally broken.

Interesting to reflect back on what I was listening to whenever the computer was watching. For much of the winter and spring of 2016 the scrobbler on my cell phone didn't work, so much of what I played wasn't recorded. I finally got the manual scrobbler to work in late spring by signing up for a Discogs account. At the time I was in the metal section of my collection, which explains Freedom Call, Stratovarius, and Dream Theater...only two of which released new material in 2016, none of which I have in my collection yet. I acquired a few new Savatage albums while exploring the band's history over the summer, and had Joe Satirani and Halestorm on heavy rotation while going to events and visiting with friends. I helped Levin, Minnemann, and Rudess kickstart their new album "From the Law Offices Of...." and got their debut album through that (the guys are a side project of musicians from other bands. Rudess is Dream Theater's keyboardist, which is how I came aware of it). Aside from them, Bart Graft is the only other one on this list who put out new material (excellent stuff by the way). Not sure why Casey LaLonde features so prominently; I might have been playing his stuff in the very earliest of the year. In the fall I got some of Python Blue's albums on discount and finally got a hold of Justice's debut album.
