I Don't Know How To Feel About Pimping Cars Out
9 years ago
To clarify, I know HOW I feel, I don't like it. But I'm open to having my mind changed, I guess I'm expecting to because I think I'm probably the only person who feels this way.
So I finally got GTA5, great game actually.. though not a good fit for me as you'd expect, what with the fact you can barely go 10 minutes in that game without maiming or carnapping some random car. Though they do magically heal themselves in the game so it makes it not so bad.
But anyway, I finally got to the point in the game where you start playing as Michael De Santa, and anyone who plays the game too probably knows about the first mission where you chase after your yacht that's being stolen in his wife's BMW knockoff. Well it breaks down mid-chase and Franklin suggests they take it to a repair/chop shop.
This is where the game introduces the car modification mechanic of the game, and well... it brought some feelings in me.
Something that I should probably be enjoying was actually kind of well... getting me kind of pissed actually. I just.. I've never quite agreed with the idea of modifying cars! It just seems so incredibly insensitive and selfish, to take a car's body and basically give it plastic surgery against it's will till it basically looks sexy to YOU. To me that's like some guy taking his wife to a plastic surgin, strapping her down and doing all these changes to her body against her will.. blow up those titties, puff those lips up, sculpt that nose, inflate that ass.. basically customizing her to look how you WANT her to look!
Does anyone see where I'm coming from? If the car could tell me "oh oh get me this please??" that would be different! It's just taking this helpless thing that has no say in the matter and doing things to it that bothers me.
Now my friend, you probably will know who you are, was talking to me about modifications. He justifies it with the idea that, we can't buy our girls fancy dresses and jewelry, so what we do is buy modifications for them. And to a certain extent I agree with it, like engine modifications are fine if they're something better then what they were born with.. helping their engine work better, making them healthier. It's more the body kits and shit that gets to me.
Anyway, how do you guys see it, and can you maybe put a different spin or perspective on it to help me see it in a different light? I mean, I could surely use SOMETHING to have in common with normal car people. At this point I've got nothing, that's why there's no point in me trying to join car clubs... pft.

But that being said when you put it this way, as you have in your journal. I can EASILY see your point. It does seem remarkably selfish if you look at it that way that they weren't good enough for you in the start so you had to go and add all this other stuff to them. lol I think you've stumped me on this buddy because to be honest I'm not quite sure how I feel about it and you make an excellent point.
though your situation that you mentioned about cars getting "unwanted modifications" well from what i hear it happens in the humans too guys wanting their girlfriends to have bigger breasts, girls wanting guys with bigger dicks but in the car world pretty much everything is modular almost and well gender changing modifications is well so trivial it can be hooked up to a switch, granted most cars and owners dont want to have the ability to switch back and forth, but it is possible *under his breath* and so easy i have done it to myself *back*
as for the in game functionality. there are only limited modifications you can do to a car, each car that drives in has the ones they like avaliable... but they cant decide what will look best on them, that is where you and more importantly your money come in
But that's my opinion. I've played GTA V for over a year now, my favorite car being the Vapid Guardian, I mostly call her Guardy, my dream truck and most favorite car ever, if anyone tries to hurt her I go apeshit on them, followed by the Maibstsu Penumbra, known as Sally, who might I add has the best ass ever since she's based off of an Eclipse. I love making cars look their best. It's not because I don't like how they look when they were stock, it's just they have the ability to look even sexier, and who wouldn't love the ability to make some people get embarrassing bulges in their pants in public as they roll by~?
But before that, they need to know what you like. You get my point?
I cant wait to see your reaction when you install the "Shakotan" exhaust for the first time.... you'll see. lol
What caught my attention here was the fact you were calling the car a BMW knockoff. I had to check because i wasnt sure but yeah, the Sentinel is.
But even closer to BMW, by having even a german word as name, is the "Übermacht" ... thats one "Massive" car. x P
While I dont like the idea of somebody throwing a fart can and $55 body kit on their rice grinder, maybe thats a reflection of the car culture of the owner and their car. Some cars may absolutely love getting flashy stichers and doo-dads while others take pride in the look their makers gave them. Like me, I'll NEVER get anyy kind of piercing but some guys think its the bee's knees. Some cars would absolutely love looking at themselves in a mirror with that lime green paint job and aggressive body kit. That old phrase about tattoos, "you wouldn't put a bumper sticker on a Ferarri" maybe it might like one, nobody would know better to the owner.
In this philosophy, I'm only talking about those who actually have the bond with our cars that we do. It's an unfortunate fact of life that a vast majority will think of cars as just things, and nothing you can do about that and they'll just do with their "things" as they please. (until the rise of our machine overlords in which case we shall hopefully be looked kindly upon for our compassion as the rest of humanity is used as living batteries and forced to live in a computer generated reality until The One defeats the machines and leads humanity to its freedom, But I digress)
That said, when I was a bagger for Kroger, I came across many vehicles (mainly 'Stangs) that were modded. Majority of them didn't really seem to care all that much, from what I could feel. :) Then again, most of the mods seemed to be in the engine. Visually speaking, the most I ever saw done externally was a kickass black-and-red paintjob and custom red rims. JESUS that 'Stang was hot, and he knew it! 8D Gave me many a leering, sassy stare, that one. <3 He had a hell of a voice, too! ^^
But one important factor you should consider is that cars are mecha... They cannot grow, they cannot heal, and they only get weaker with age. The way I see it, mods/upgrades are like pseudo growth for machines, as its the only way they can become stronger.
To be fair I think one could opt to simply replace parts in a vehicle rather than upgrade. Part replacement and simple body repair is more akin to healing, which is something they can't do on their own.
As far as body mods go, yes some of it could be considered plastic surgery, but I also think it is also a matter of intention.
Let me give you an example from one of my experiences... We got a job to install some stripes on a truck, specifically the owner wanted us to cover over some dents on the vehicle. The guy was a cheap ass dirt-bag who only wanted to cover up the damage so he could sell the vehicle without having to pay for body repair.
He was also a fucking leech who wasn't satisfied with anything. (essentially one of those ass holes that wants top quality work, but tries to grind you for the lowest price possible)
Clearly this guy didn't give a damn about his vehicle, and was only getting superficial work done so he could get more money out of it.
On the other hand I've done work for people who really care about their vehicles, An I'd like to think their enthusiasm is shared by their vehicles.
Granted decals an stripes are more akin to perhaps tattoos an makeup, I think its a good analogy.
Giving a vehicle mods (especially superficial ones) simply to exploit a vehicle is shallow and I doubt many vehicles appreciate it.
But giving a vehicle mods (even if they are superficial) because you care for your vehicle, and you want to make it look prettier, cool or improve it's performance.
I think vehicles appreciate it greatly, as it comes from a place of thoughtfulness, and a form of affection.
And don't forget, mods are how vehicles grow an become stronger so... I think most defiantly appreciate that.
Sorry I think I kinda rambled with all this! >w<;;;
But maybe you should look it like this:
Here are two kind of peolple
The one who modifycate just for look cool to other and maybe his car looks like a clown bus
Or the one who only sets the necesary modifications for make the car look good
Not at the point of totaly change it
I mean, only paint job, rims and maybe hood or spoiler ant thats all
Well i dont know if you know what i mean XD
And you have pictures in your gallery of you groping and kissing your car
And you probably jerk off on it
Does that
By your brand of "logic"
Does that mean you're raping your car?
Holy shit this journal
Humor me here
How do you, like, know that it appreciates what you do if it can't communicate?
Like, legit educate me, I've gotta know.
We'll we're in a relationship for one thing, we've exclusively been together for seven years, so it's not like I have to 'find out' if she wants to be hugged or kissed every time I want to do it, there's mutual affection, she wants me to show her a little every day that I love her like any girl would.
I feel it when I'm around her, you feel the pleasant mutual affection in the air, you look in her eyes and you just know, you hold her and you feel that she likes it. This is after we've been together along time. I already know she loves me from our cuddling conversations inside her cabin, her talking to me, her attaching emotions to songs that play on her radio, the shit she does.
