Well it's not really Transformers 2, it's 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen'. Hollywood seems to be a little number-phobic all of a sudden when it comes to sequels.
But yeah, apparently I am in the exact centre of the target audience for this flick because I gotta say, it seems like every critic ever hates this movie and while I can sort of see where they're coming from, I don't agree with most of what they're saying at all. Yes, the interactions between the humans can be corny, but they're believably corny, and it works for the most part. There's one human character who comes off as way, way unnatural, but it turns out they did that very deliberately. This movie blew my mind.
I don't remember if I've mentioned it here before, but the first movie was my favourite film of all time, I adored Optimus Prime as a kid, so seeing him thirty feet tall in live action (with the same voice actor no less) made me feel ten years old again.
This? This had more of the same, in a good way. They listened to the fans and spent a hell of a lot more time focusing on the robots in the sequel. The Decepticons especially come off as way more sinister and dangerous because they spend a lot of time establishing exactly how little they care about the human race. (Minor spoiler: Hell, there's a scene where they straight-up murder one of their own for use as spare parts)
On the other hand, I found it odd that they almost totally ignored most of the Autobots; other than Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and the Twins, none of the good guys really get much screen time after the first twenty minutes. They're there, they're just not doing anything. Ratchet and Ironhide get even less screentime than in the first movie, and I found it especially unsatisfying the way they used Arcee. They specifically left her out of the first movie because they didn't want to have to take the time to explain robot gender, but now they just throw her in for the hell of it and barely use her at all.
Oh, and the Twins are nowhere near as racist as some people say they are, they happen to talk like (very stupid) rappers, and one of them has a gold tooth, but that's about it. It's not like they're talking about how much they love Earth food like fried chicken and watermelon.
This is running longer than I thought it would. >_>
Bottom line: If you liked the first movie, you're gonna like this one. And I loved the first movie, so I'm prolly gonna go see it again.
PSEUDO-REVIEW OVER.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, before the movie started, the random-loop-of-theatre-sponsored-crap started up a Miley Cyrus music video, prompting most of the audience to boo or go "Oh come on, really?" And then, about five seconds after she actually started singing, the screen goes black as they hard-cut to the trailers on the actual filmreel. To thunderous applause and cheering. They could very easily synch it to start the film at the end of whatever segment is playing, so I'd really like to think someone up in the booth did it on purpose.

I agree with you wholeheartedly on the review. One of the critics in my city said "The movie had three false endings." I still don't know wtf he was talking about when he said that because I can't think of any moment when I thought "oh, the movie should end right here." I thought the movie was well worth the 9 bucks I paid to see it (tried to see it in IMAX but I bought my ticket too late x_x).

OP
Yes sir, and the ridiculous amounts of money it's pulling in seems to be a bit of a slap in the face to all those critics. :D
