I am considering opening my uncensored works to the public on my patroon after they have been up for a month. I am getting a pretty negative response on my E621 so I thought it best to take this approach. I have thought about it for a while and came to the conclusion that for a niche community such as this, support comes from those that a appreciate both the work and the artists and I can't really force those that don't wish to support from seeing my art. so I thought this the best choice to provide incentive to click on my patron but also show those that are on the fence about supporting me what my work has to offer.
Would love to hear your thoughts!

Aside that there's also piracy issues that becomes less of a worry since it's gonna be posted free anyway.
I say try it. If it doesn't work you can always try something else later, there's no shortage of business models really and besides i like your art.
As far as making it as an artist and yeah, profits goes, I gota give you a warning!
Keeping public interest positive is utterly critical and you will find strict pay sites will eat away people enjoyment from your art and dirty your image. People like to see ‘the art’, if they know something is hidden from them and they can’t see it without payment, they take it as personal insult (especially on sites that contain lots of free art). Both new and well established artists can take a serious hit from this kind of thing. People know artists want to make a profit from their work that’s ok, but people in the art business know this comes from taking commissions. And your commissions are fed directly by public interest, so yeah id step away from the pay to view attitude pretty fast.
What does work well is paying to see it early as spritersie suggested, then releasing it at a later date free and in full. Tease with the cover up pics, tell people it’s coming soon but then tell them how they can get a look in early ahead of the crowd! Adding sketch material you’d not normally upload onto your patroon will also help get customers, while not sounding like it’s something people will miss out on, they ‘just have to wait long enough’.
Though to be honest I find that site horrible and very unprofessional, I don’t like paying another company when I could be paying the artist directly. I’d much rather a personally made site, you just gota invest a little before you get pay back. Do I need to mention the bad attitude already associate with the place?
You’re a great artist and I hope you do well, but I would really reconsider while you still can. There are much better ways to increase profits.
