Felt like making a new journal.
What is your favorite song?
If you don't have one, or can't think of a single 'favorite', a top listing is fine too.

Which is the one I'm using to determine what art I plan on getting next!

And then of course, you have things like Brian May singing Too Much Love Will Kill You, that only makes choosing even more difficult.

As for no reason in particular I've recently erred between Highbrow and weird random music.
Because of that, those songs which are my favorites, are not the most exciting or energetic, but rather the ones that I listened to during various times in my life when they were either the most fitting, or the most comforting.
There are many songs that at a given moment I may enjoy more, even by the artists I've selected here, but the following songs are a few that will always have a special place for me:
- Lonely Wind by Kansas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyn8IeOdxlY
There were many times, especially when I was away at school (before the internet was a thing), where songs like this helped pull away the occasional loneliness.
- Man in the Wilderness by Styx: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8XRTbGCFLl4
Another song that just seemed to hit all the right notes back when I needed it in my life, and because of that, it will always have a place in my heart.
- Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iedAGvCnGbA
There are many moments in Mike Oldfield's 40+ years of making music that have hit emotional notes for me, but his original, 25 minute long album side, will always be one of my all time favorites. His composition and orchestrational skills are simply amazing.
- Circus of Heaven by Yes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wgP88XY-Tto
I consider myself as agnostic in terms of religion, and this song just so beautifully captures the innocence of not being seduced by the glamour that religions will often offer. I have always just loved that unique, refreshing take that it portrays.
- In the Year 2525 by Zager and Evans: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N03Uoj6p9QA
Every time I hear this song, it spurs my imagination into wondering what the world will indeed be like in the thousands of years to come, while at the same time, disheartening me in knowing that I will not be around to see it.
- Puromesyume by Kitaro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZX2yOVh0x0
The piano just compliments the synthesizers so perfectly, that I always loved this song.
- Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter, Paul and Mary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7lmAc3LKWM
Seemingly so charming and innocent, this has to be one of the saddest songs ever written, and I'm simply a sucker for such things.
I really could go on and on, but I'll stop here. Music can have a way of reaching into our souls and how a song affects us at the time that we hear it, will always determine if or how we might cherish that song. For those who spend their lives listening to many different songs and types of music, it will never be possible to have only one or two favorites. There will be one for every one of those moments we remember and hold onto.
