Back to Work + Question for Y'all

Hey folks! I'm back from my travels for the time being, including an incredible weekend tabling for the first time at Further Confusion. I met lots of lovely new people and was, as always, delighted and touched to hear how many were familiar with and enjoyed my work. I hope to come back next year if all falls in my favor. Despite a small health issue during the weekend, I had a great time, and I was fortunate enough to be able to spend a few extra days in California with a local friend who fed me sushi and got me back into crocheting a bit.
Anyway, I've returned to my work desk proper and am in the process of updating my queue and getting in touch with current commissioners. Thanks for your understanding and patience - my time away in December/January was a bit more extensive than in previous years, but it was very rewarding and refreshing. I've booked out the remainder of January with work at this point, though I do have slots available in February for those of you who would like to schedule projects! I'm open for all my regular items and will be taking a special batch of Valentine's cards again soon as well. More on that before long!
Hope you all have been well and had a good holiday season and beginning of 2017.
My shop has been on hiatus while I've been gone but will be reopening with some updates this week! I'm doing post-FC inventory and should have everything from pins to prints available online again shortly. There's some exciting new merch ideas I'd like to explore this year if it all pans out. Fingers crossed!
Not too much else to say at the moment. I have some new things to upload, and I'd like to catch up on what folks have been up to in the past while.
Come to think of it, I do have a question for you folks about how you see me and my work. I run a dealer table at a few cons a year and typically, the person you'll meet behind the table is me unless I've had to run to the bathroom for a moment or something. However, I've repeatedly had people come up to my table and ask me questions like:
"Where's Moth Monarch?"
"Will Moth Monarch be back soon?"
"Are you a friend of Moth Monarch?"
Once I even had a dude look straight at me and tell his buddy on the phone that "Moth Monarch" wasn't at "his" table at the moment.
This is pretty baffling, to be honest, and I'm trying to figure out why it happens. At first I thought maybe it was because people expected a guy, as people have assumed my husband to be me when he's watched the table for a few minutes. Then at FC I had a friend help me out a few times who looks so much like me (short, glasses, dark hair, etc) that people ask if we're sisters - and folks thought SHE was Moth Monarch. There were times we were at the table together and people either assumed she was the artist or we were jointly the artist. But not me. For some reason, I regularly get people who don't believe I'm me.
Here's me at my FC table last weekend.
And here's me with an incredibly adorable moth fursuiter.
I'm a goofy-looking human with hair that makes no sense. I wear a giant badge and have hardly any legs to speak of. And I draw the bugs! Maybe I'm nothing special or exciting, but that's okay. I'm me, and that's what I'm supposed to be.
Anyway, maybe I'll eventually figure out what that's all about. Until next time, be well! Stay safe! Believe in yourself!

I actually do have a question though. Will you be sharing a table with Shiro at FE or will you each have a separate table? It's gonna be my first FE and was wondering if you are doing badges that'll be picked up there?
ive seen it happen all the time amongst other artists on their journals from cons too, so you're not alone in this Nyomi! ^^; people just need to be more attentive, and when they arent, they need to be gently corrected.
This said, I've been known to briefly have inattentive moments, and miss giant cues, but never like this. I usually behave as if the person behind the table is the one supposed to be there, unles I know in advance hat they look or sound like (with some streams, you can know someone's hand and voice but not face).
But really. that badge. there's no excuse. :)
Glad you had a great time at FC, it's gotten to be quite the con - and I haven't been there in almost a decade!
FC's decision to finally expand the dealer's room contributed a lot to the fun & success of my weekend. In talking to other dealers, I found there was a general sentiment that while movement in the rooms felt slow, sales numbers were actually normal to pretty good. I think many were used to comparing it to the absolute bottleneck traffic jam that was the old room - having way more space threw us off!
If you make it back someday, I hope to see you there. :D
