💛 Hey guys! *o*
Here is a little report on my day at the Japan Festival in Berlin (last saturday~).
(Pictures of stuff I bought near the bottom of the journal)
Man it was sooo awesome! I was really anxious first though as I went alone and didn't know anyone ther but I told myself it'll be much like EF and hey, that even worked. :P By the way, originally I wanted to go there on saturday & sunday, but I got to see basically all I wanted to on saturday, spent my entire budget of a bit more than 200€ and was all beat on sunday, so I made that one a me-day and spent some time gaming and planning my Caterpie-suit. x3
So, back to the Japan Festival!
When I got there I saw a couple of interesting things I wanted to sketch, but it took me some minutes before I felt brave enough. I mean, to stand right infront of a table where people want to sell stuff, and not buy a thing but just sketch... My mind was telling me it's weird, haha. xD (People only smiled at me though, so I think atleast no one was angry or so?) I bought some real nice chocolate by the way, one with sesam and one with Yuzu. This is one of the first tables I cam across after all, hehe. And not long after at an anime themed table I got a One Piece t shirt with the text 'We go to the New orld' and Luffy on it. 💚 I then walked around more and sketched a bit before going to the first 'panel'. While waiting I was sketching, and someone complimented me on the sketch of a stuffed panda I made. Remember this one for later! The panel itself was about japanese songs. And guess what I did? Sketching! Yeah I take my New Year resolutions serious, haha. xD Then i watched something about Ikeba - and sketched. Next I walked around more and thought about whether to get something to eat, but the first floor was so full of people eating since it was just past noon, I chose to instead walk around more. And...
Spent more money.
yeah. xD Got a One Piece bag, and another One Piece shirt before I went around a bit. This second shirt I bought, I totally had to get it. I once saw a man in a tv show wear it, and since then I wanted a 'Grandline University' shirt too. Was so happy when I saw it being sold there! XD I also saw a Luffy and Law cosplayer. But man, asking Fursuiters to take photos of them feels muuuch easier. Like, you don't see their faces in a suit, I figured out it's a thing I love about fursuiter, haha. xD I also sketched a bit before going to the next panel. That one was about Taiko Drums, a cool show, much fun to listen to. 💜
Next I went to another stage again and listened to some information about studying in japan. (From the table of those who held that presentation I got a few flyer later. There is actually a somewhat affordable japanese school in my city. So many, if I one day feel stuck studying by myself, I might consider going to a school again.)
No sketching next, promise! Went to the second floor after all. The Anime/Manga/Cosplay floor. Yeah, I lost some more money there.... A lot went into sweets. I mean, strawberry pocky, and ハイチュウ! The single bonbons have paper with adorable japanese messages on them. 💙 Man I love these chews. xD I also got a One Piece bowl, now I can have my cereals in a OP bowl, yaaay! (It's a big deal for me, yeah?! XD) Also, I was suuuper tempted to buy a Eustass Kid figure, (Kid ❤️), it was the only Kid related thing I saw, but 80€ for a figure? Oh I am kind of glad I didn't do it, just kind of though, and just because it's my least favourite figure of him. The guy I talked to earlier, while waiting for the first panel... Remember? I met him and his girlfriend's daughter there again and we talked about the figures and prices and so on. It was nice. If you randomly get to know people and meet them again later as if it's the most natural thing ever, it's what I love about cons! And hey, I found another way to spend my money. I bought a sword for 50€ instead - 30€ less after all. XD So now I own a replica of Kikoku - Law's sword. And that thing is huge! Alost as long as I am tall! Well, I'm small, but still! as quite a thing to carry around in the cardbox. xD
A but I bought the sword a bit later actually, I first went to the 3rd floor and got it on the way back down! The 3rd floor was about japan. I looked around and sketched a bit, but that's mostly it. And hey, sketching some wooden house got a me a fair amount of compliments, but having people walk up to me, stand beside ma and look or ask what I am drawing is... MENTALLY HARD! But I survived, haha. Got myself a Nigiri with duck and red cabbage before I went down. Man, this was like christmas but with no potato and rice instead, haha. xD (Potato, red cabbage and duck/goose make a typical Christmas dish here.) I then went to get the sword, and went down to the first floor again. Got myself a spot to sit down and ate. Definitely want to eat that again. Hmmmm ~ 💚
And well, then I lisened to someone playing a flute and then listening to song of Japan and Totoros! Man that was nice. 💛 Then listening ot the Taiko Drums again before watching some Kempo. I then walkd around a bit more, and then finally went home. I was tired from being focused for more than 8 hours and heavily loaded with all the stuff I bought. My first bag long full, and the second bag I got was full too, + the huge sword in the cardbox. That luckily wasn't heavy, so I could cary it with one hand even, but it wasn't that handy to carry. hen I was back home I basically dropped dead. Well, after making the table in the living room be a mess. :P
Sunday I took some time for myself, slept long, had nice pasta, played Okamiden again after wanting to do so for 2-3 months. I made some sketches on how to build my Caterpie suit's head with mesh, too. And aa bit drawing in the end~ A real nice weekend if you ask me! :D
So there we go! Thanks to everyone who commissioned me and supported me in wasting so much money. xD
Here are pictures of the things I bought: http://sta.sh/214sg8ahptb4
I'll hurry on the commissions left and continue making much awesome art for your peeps to enjoy. -sends hugs and much love- :3
And while I wish you all a great week...

I was looking in the areas with pokemon stuff, sadly no Caterpie! D: But I had an awesome time for sure! :3
Glad to hear you had a good time, nonetheless! 83
In the past I managed to not spend money on merch and instead focus on what things I really need, but.... When I saw all the tables and all these awesome OP stuff, I just couldn't resist anymore at some point, haha. And actually, by now I have no regrets, muhaha! Gotta get even more next year! :P
Perhaps two days would have been overwhelming -- it sounds like you tried to do and see everything at once. Aha~!
Glad you had fun, girl. You earned it. ♪
And this sword, haha. So heavy for me though, as weak as I am I'll now have to do some 'daily training' in hopes to be able to hold it at easy one day. :P It's 1,35meter long by the way. Since I am just a bit above 1,60m it looks nearly life-sized compared to the show. Not bad if you ask me. Was hard to carry around when I watched more panels though, the rows to sit were really small, and I was worrying about blocking anyone's view. Luckily the woman who sat behind me told me it's okay, else it would have stressed me overly much. XD
The most important thing is to have a good time -- and I think you did, from the story!
But I had an awesome time after all! That's for sure. <3
And Strawberry Pocky are always a nice yummy souvenir, I agree. If they just wouldn't push the prices so steep at times. Makes me always fight an internal struggle. XD
Aww, drawing around the convention is fun. I usually exchange ConHons with people and we scribble something neat. I enjoy it lots to meet people and look around the booths they got. =3
I've been at the Japan Festival in Düsseldorf before. They held it at the Rhine's riverside street promenade and they also do a large firework at nightfall. Was lotsa fun to join there in my Totodile suit. (-^.=.^-)
In the past I resisted collecting stuff too, but there I mostly saw it online only. This was easier. If you see it all life in front of you ready for grabs - oh man, so hard. XD But I love the stuff I got, this is what matters. And hey, hey, what is a travel on a ship without musician? You are hired! ;D
That is true though, those prices are... Tough for one's soul. But to get the stuff imported would end up as expensive, sadly. So what can one do, exept enjoying it as a rare treat? x3
And oh a firework? And you went in suit? Man this sounds sooo cool! I wonder if next year, when my suit is done, I should go there as Caterpie? I mean, all pokemon should be welcome at a japanese festival, right? xD
You mean like our 'Rare Candy', Caterpiefriend? *eats Pocky and levels up* (~.=.o)
Oh, sure they are. I had especially fun when there were Japanese families walking around and I called out "Waninoko" and the people directly knew what I was. =3
But I really want that to happen, the Strawhats in space, oh my god they would loose Luffy for good! X'D And Choppy in a spaaacee suit, oh my god! X3 <33 I love the idea!
And wow, this sounds so adorable! Now I wanna shout Kyatapie! XD Though that is fairly close to the english one, now that I think about it. I am really getting excited to start working on my suit though, yet I still struggle finding a sewing machine that can sew stretchy fabrics. To not need fur seemed like an advantage, but this stretch jersey is much harder to work with than I thought. But I don't wanna give up on my wish for a fabric cover I can take off the head to wash so I won't need to wash the entire head. sfsjdhfhdgsdgf D:
Hihihi, I'm that sorta dude who always has lotsa funny ideas on his mind. Would surely be a great anime special with the Sunny being like a spaceship and the strawhats wearing fun outfits fiting the theme. Not to mention how funny it would be to see all the female members always just shrugging it off when there are robots somewhere while the guys are aall excited. XD
But yeah, I love the message of the series in main that if you have friends and stand in for your shared dreams you can manage everything and have the best adventures together. It's especially sweet that the Strawhats just seem to enjoy themselves a lot together on their adventures. They have all really a lot of personality and are very likable. ^_^
Definitely would enjoy seeing some cute "What if...`?" fanarts with me lil Dile either hanging out with characters from it(I also like Chopper and the Mink people) or him wearing some cosplay. He definitely likes cotton candy and fun things just the way as the Strawhats' lil doctor. ^_^
Much success there. I have lotsa respect for all the nifty features people put in their suit concepts. I must admit that I'm a pretty cautious type when it comes to special things. I am sometimes worried still I could accidently ruin the suit I got and if I imagine it would have been as expensive as the costumes other people get I'd probably only ever put it on indoors. But I'm probably just only a little nervous about my abilities to own and handle things of greater value at times because of the possible risks. <X3
Die Bilder gefallen mir gut. Dachte erst, du wärst irgendwo drauf zu sehen ^///^ aber bin schon froh, dass es nicht so ist. Viele Programme können anhand eines Photos schon herausfinden wo du wohnst, wenn du es an deinem Heim-PC hochgeladen hast. Das ist so gefährlich, aber da denkt leider niemand nach. Manche denken sogar, man kann sie anhand eines Alters ausfindig machen. Ist irgendwie witzig oder? So was dummes ^^;
Hart. X3 -hugs-
