Okay so my 4 year old Gateway W730-K8X notebook's back light started to go out on me last night, and its gone out again this morning when i went to turn it on (is looking at the dark screen now) this might of been caused by poor ventilation, or the not wholly compatible, but working AC adapter I am forced to use or just old age. (and before we ask, yes the warranty is expired D8 )
This is my main source of art programs and communications, so i have to see about getting a replacement screen post haste, however this might take a while to get back to me even if I can get it repaired.
So I am going to see about getting repairs done at BestBuy, or at the very least look for the price range to just BUY a new screen and have someone pop it in place at home. This would be a near insta fix if wasn't broke this week. (taking care of ones family can be taxing on the wallet)
So yeah untill all this is MAGICALLY fixed, I will be fighting for time and space on the family computer, which is a rock with a painted screen on the front T.T So art is on hold, i had the forsight to save my commissions to a store and go grive so at least those are safe.
I will try to get my laptop back up as soon as i can, wish me luck.

It sounds like a power supply issue. Try replacing your power cable first, then try replacing your whole power supply. But if you're not confident about opening it up then it's best to let the store people do it.
