mao zedong stole and sold the crops produced by the proletariat of his country as millions of people starved.
this is after forcibly taking all metal implements - mostly farming and cooking tools - and melting them down to make weapons... which is why there was a lack of food in the first place; you can't grow food if the dictator steals all of your farming equipment.
he not only sold - for monetary profit and power - the food stolen from the peasantry, but he sold it to western powers and had many a trade agreement with dick nixon.
so, given all of that... does this sound like communism?
does this sound like "a political theory advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs?"
does it sound like "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need?"
or does it instead sound like a imperialist dictatorship masquerading as communism?
just because the history teacher calls it a communist dictatorship doesn't make it so. they don't understand political theory any more than the next ignorant-ass american, and most (although not all) examples of communism "killing millions" rely on citing examples like the one above. so maybe. just maybe. your views on communism and the successful execution thereof could be skewed from a misleading education.
just a thought.
