Playing some Starbound recently. Took the time to decorate a home for myself, which is something I typically never care to do in sandbox games:

A four-sided dirt wall with a bed usually would suffice for me. Not sure if I'll make a house on land, I'll have to see; a ship shouldn't really be your "home."
