Internet's slightly messed up
I love that feeling when your prey is kicking in your gut.
I still have internet but it's slower. My dad was messing around with the DVR since that was malfunctioning. Long story short the wireless connection that runs at great speed was essentially lost so we're stuck with the second best connection which has a rating of two out of three bars instead of a full three. In other words we have internet but it's not as good.
To top things off we can't get it back until we watch ALL the shows in the dvr recorder. There's roughly 53 hours worth of shows including movies and one-hour show programs and those aren't even mine.
All recorded programs connect to the same hard drive so they can be watched from any tv in the house but the problem with THAT is that any recording that someone makes fills the dvr up regardless of who's recording.
Meaning even if I just want to record one program it still goes to the shared DVR. To make matters worse the DVR can predict the schedules up to 11 days in advance! Meaning when we record a series the DVR takes that into account before anything else. Last I checked we had up to 48 series scheduled to record. Only ONE of those is mine. The rest is from my family, we could get around this by cancelling some series recordings (some of them aren't shown anymore) but the problem is I have no clue what's being shown and what isn't...ugh what a pain.

Shame it works in such a wasteful way, RD. Wish you that things can be fixed at some point in the future. =3

My dad's trying to fix it. Thankfully this internet connection has a password too. Tbh I don't really notice a speed difference.

I had issues with my internet after I got a new computer with Windows 10 on it so we switched from a WLAN to a DLAN connection. DLAN is like you have these outlet thingies that you can plug a LAN cable into. Works fine for the most part except for some random times the net is gone for about a minute or two. I usually just do something else at such times.

In our case our tv is hooked up to our modem, we can't switch up without upending our entire media server.

Ah, yes, I heard of that some TVs do that nowadays to either work with things like Netflix, Amazon Prime or servers by the manufacturer.

Precisely, that's what we have and unless I want everyone ripping me a knew tailhole i'm not going to screw with it.

Understandable. XD

Thing is I think we can upgrade the modem. I'm all for buying a new one myself if my Dad allows it...

Well, you usually only need a fast net connection if you do things like uploading a lot of files or play online games that have a high frequency in their data transfer, I'd guess.

The only online game I'm playing right now is pokken tournament so meh.

Does it run properly?...Though...I heard that Nintendo's server connections aren't always the best from the start. ^^'

I know that which is part of the reason I'm not too concerned. The games I run off the internet connection aren't the best. Tbh I don't notice that much of a speed difference.
