2D-3D: Thank you! And what the hell are these things called?
I got a really positive response from a bunch of you to my new "2D-3D" images (like this one http://www.furaffinity.net/view/22544597/ and this one http://www.furaffinity.net/view/22544738/ ). That means a ton to me and I really appreciate everyone's feedback and interest in what I'm trying to do. Thank you! There will be many more to come!
But... does anyone know what the hell 3D images/videos like this are called?? It seems like there might be an existing name for them, even though I've never really seen them anywhere else. I know there is that type of .gif 3D image that I've seen a few times online that just consists of two images (the left and right 3D views) flashing back and forth very quickly. I didn't want to make that kind because I always thought they looked terrible and not 3D at all. They were what inspired me to try this method though. Does anyone at least know what the name of those is? That would be helpful, but again, it still seems likely that exactly what I'm doing existed before, even though I don't know about it! Anybody know if it did? Does it have a name?
So any ideas? Are these things a thing? Do they have a name? Or do I need to come up with one?
Coming up with one might be fun...
Update:
stargate525 seems to have figured it out and sent me a note about it!
"Wiggle Steroscopy", "Wobble 3D", or "Piku-Piku"(!) which is Japanese for "twitching". (Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiggle_stereoscopy ). Well... I sure as hell know which one I want to use! "Piku-Piku" couldn't have won me over faster if it was covered in marshmallows and porn! But... nobody will know what it means! It's not descriptive like the others!... so I will probably have to go with one of them! Damn my marketing instincts! They ruin everything!
But wait... what do I know!! What do you think?
