Thank you for posting this. It is always difficult to find material that advocates a good balance between accepting logic and reason, and maintaining a sense of spirituality. This does a very good job of that.

While people might debate this topic, I want to say thank you for making posts on this subject. It's an issue that I think extends into any area where belief is heavily involved. Having worked in the pagan/metaphysical community, I've seen examples where bad science has actually become dangerous. Poison plants (to use a general example), are one which a lot of people come in asking about because it's edgy, and for one reason or another, sometimes people want to feel powerful. I feel like in a lot of cases they're asking, "how can this non-human being serve me, my purposes, my beliefs?" In reality, it's a poison. Being uprooted, consumed, and making some random human "powerful" really doesn't have anything to do with that plant's survival. There are cases where it might be beneficial for a plant to be consumed, but in the case of the plant that has such a toxicity that is drives animals away... There's a reason why it's poison. Not only is the attitude incredibly disrespectful to the nature of that plant, but the individual is putting themselves in physical danger by not understanding the physical science behind the plant.

Thankfully thus far I've had mentors and friends who are very much into the science side, or at the least have the questioning science mindset. In having that community is wonderful, when I go too far off into the "woowoo" side of things, I can be sure someone will call me out, haha! I'm totally with you on feeling that science deepens the spiritual path. For me, it's helped me to keep that curious, open mind, which has led me to places completely unexpected, and deepens the moments of personal gnosis.

*nods* While people do need to find their own personal balances between science and spirituality, there are definitely certain boundaries that really shouldn't be crossed for safety reasons!
