KD's Monday Fun Fact of 2017

You know what was really cool? The voices in Might and Magic VII and VIII.
Okay, most of them were terrible. Since there were only a few lines, they were probably done by the development staff rather than professionals, especially in VII. The acting quality in VIII was a little better. Also you could have dragons in your party. But there were a few good voice sets.
My favorite was the deep voice that said "You need a strong warrior, like myself" at character select. He shrugged off attacks with "Ha, but a scratch", until critical health made him react with either a surprised "That one hurt!" or a defiant "You'll have to do better than that!" When left as the last party member alive, he would say "It's just you and me now." Not sure who he was talking to, since the player is not connected to any in-game character.
I really liked the "last man standing" lines in general. My usual voice picks had an optimistic "I'll save us!" and a very nice "Stay calm, we'll get through this."
And of course, no article on M&M7 would be complete without mentioning the redhead elf. "I broke a naaail!"
Also funny were the voices when your character successfully identified an item. My usual identifier in VII just said "Hm." for most items, but occasionally reacted with a "Wow!" for rare artifacts.
VIII upped the ante on item identification. Early on you recruit a necromancer who is likely to be your top ID'er for a long while. Apparently, the breakpoints on the identifier being impressed by an item is sky-high, because he reacts to just about everything with "It's worthless."
So you have a pack full of loot that you need to ID. "It's worthless. It's worthless. It's worthless."
Later on you get a dragon who is an even better item identifier. All that hoarding, you understand. And what's his line? A hissy "Worthlessss", of course! "Worthlessss. Worthlessss. Worthlessss."
The dragons were probably even more snobby when it came to their opinion of item worth. All that hoarding, you understand.

And then there's a dragon in a cave a short walk away.
Dracobugs? Dragons? All on the starting Newbie Island??
People are missing out.
A dragon right in the starting island ? Well I guess I'll will have to play it again, I don't remember anything of the sort.
Also, someone posted all the voice acting.
And about the voice acting, there is one thing you missed : I'm not english. There may be the french version somewhere too, but I never searched for it.
(At least, the kind that joins a heroic party and goes around killing every monster in sight for loot and experience.)
