"What We Had Before: Furry Comics and Zines of the 20th..."
"It's a journal from Summercat! And he writes:"
"In the 21st Century, we have an amazing amount of artwork, comics, and stories - but ever wonder what Furries had for art and entertainment in the fandom's early days? Come to this show-and-tell exhibiting comics and zines from the 80s and 90s, browse the collection after the talk at your own pace, and see where where modern Furry has come from."
---
So time to put my time and effort where my mouth is.
I've applied to run this event - where I take my collection of furry comics, magazines, and APAs out, do a talk about them, and allow people to browse or read them - at a three conventions now.
Furthemore
Furaffinity United
Anthrocon
I can only hope that I'm not going to make a fool out of myself when speaking as if I'm an authority on the subject! This is the educational aspect of my plan with my library - not just preservation but also showing people where we've come from, what was held as popular, and that which inspired those who are the big names today.
Let's see how it goes, application-wise. I'm probably not going to hear back from the cons for a long while, so - who knows!

It was by no means sudden. Cultural movements very rarely appear suddenly out of nothing - general anthropomorphics ( Animal Farm, Old Mother West Wind's Children, Wind in the Willows, Aesop )had existed for years and was and remain a very big influence.
Nor was it localized - 1984 is the year Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was first published, along with all sorts of various tailcoat riders.
The big thing is, this is a library of the Furry fandom, which didn't really exist prior the 80s.
In all honesty if they don't at FAU or FTM I might just take over a lounge :p
