Scratchings on the Wall
It's been a busy and hectic 2017 on and off. One good news this month is at long last I no longer have to deal with my bitchy supervisor. Long story. I am thankful to have a better supervisor who does not try to intentionally break down her supervisees.
In other news, I turn a year older tomorrow.
I do not know if I will be able to attend Anthrocon this year because, in April, I will be attending Disney World with two of my friends.

Happy B-Day, sweetie. ^^
Glad to hear about the new boss, should make work a lot less stressful. And Disney is awesome! I'm jealous, have fun! Sometimes it's worth missing a con if something better comes up, especially if it's one you've already been to before a few times. AC will always be here next year. Sora and I missed AC in 2015 cause we went to Hawaii instead, so I totally can appreciate making such a decision. With that being said I hope you get to do both, it would be great to see you again.
That is true, AC will be there next year.
Wicked cool you two went to Hawaii. Which island (s) did you visit? I interned in Maui in 2005.
Hopefully I will have enough money for AC this year. We'll see what the cards have dealt for me. Will keep you posted if can attend Anthrocon.
We should talk about the Disney stuff! How many days you're going, what parks or attractions you plan to visit, etc!
I will be going with 2 friends during April 27th - May 1st.
Any talk with you is always welcome. ^_^
Do you have hopper passes? Hopper passes let you go to more than one park in a day, which really helps squeeze everything in (like I took Kathy to Animal Kingdom and then we went back to Magic Kingdom for the evening show). Are you flying or driving? Where are you staying? Will you have your car or a shuttle to the parks? Also, Disney Springs is fun but is not an official park; it's a shopping experience which is a BLAST, and doesn't have an admission cost, but can take from precious time that could be used at the park, if you have passes for the full trip.
For basic souvenirs, Disney Springs is good as they have several shops which are repeats of the park merchandise (World of Disney in Disney Springs is the biggest official merchandise store, in or out of park) Then you also don't have to lug purchases throughout the park while you're trying to ride rides. (though they do have a service that will take purchases to the front of the park for you, but that takes time and I'm not sure if there's a cost involved as I haven't utilized it myself) If you're looking for basic/generic or general souvenirs, there are a TON of souvenir shops along International Drive, including a walmart that during the day has an airbrushing booth inside it even!
If you like the Disney collecting/trading pins, I strongly strongly suggest buying a mixed lot off amazon or ebay ahead of time for trading. Occasionally fakes get in those lots but they're WAY cheaper than buying at the park for just swapping. I love doing it with the cast members - many of them have lanyards or black canvas squares that hang off their hip. The cast members are given those by Disney specifically to let guests trade with them, and you can find some really neat ones. Different parks have some more specialized ones, but you can get the vast majority of the pins available for purchase at the "Pin Trading Post", which is a store at Disney Springs.
Additionally, if you or your friends like card games like Magic the Gathering type stuff, they have a card game in Magic Kingdom that's interactive with various parts of the park. It's called Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom, and they can get you started at a small building to the left side, immediately when you enter the park (it's just next door to the City Hall, where they can help you with any special needs anyone in your party may have - we went for Kit's mom because of her heart and her hip)
There are sooooo many foods you could try while you're there. Epcot has amazing food at all the different countries - so good!!! There's a Mac and cheese place near the carousel in Magic Kingdom, and the Dole Whip (pineapple ice cream) in Adventureland (and parts of Epcot) is legendary.
I could keep going for days, but feel free to ask about stuff as well. :)
