What? Dust in the lungs makes people cough. Best example are the masks people have to wear in mines because the fine rock dust getting into your lungs makes you cough and causes death.

thats because its mineral dust, regular dust isn't as dangerous to your lungs -in the same quantity- as dust coming off of rocks.

silica, coal, salt, all of those aren't the same stuff that settles in a room when there's no activity, which is mostly comprised of dead organic matter (like dead skin cells) rather than actual minerals. UNLESS its like in a desert like environment, where it would be the opposite, less organic, more mineral.
