Kazootles! Frisky made mention of this legend in the community, too. It is heart-breaking to hear he passed at such a young age.

As I shared on Frisky's journal, I may not have known Gene, but I'm certain there have been many works I've encountered that were inspired by him.

I also think of how he is spoken of as such a positive influence. Someone who exemplified the best of this community of ours. To this, I remember how you, MJ, Tacki, and Frisky are are the reason I'm here at all. You gave me that feeling of acceptance, understanding, love, and friendship I had never experienced before. I could never have fully understood why I am the way I am and how to love who I am along with talents without you and all our friends.

Everything has to start somewhere and it sounds like Gene was one of those founding fathers that has allowed good people, like you, to help people, like me, join into this marvelous community. Let us continue to honor such a legacy by being friendly, furry (or scaly), and fun! :)

It's really only hit home to me today how much of a life-changer it was when I discovered his works - I've been feeling really devastated ever since I heard the news. I hadn't really thought about it for a long time, but it really was like a window into another world, finding the Yerf website and this one guy who was all about being a friendly and likeable cat guy... something about Gene Catlow just spoke to me at a level I didn't even know I had.

Gene certainly paved the way for others to bring so much good to this community. You being one of the most notable, to me.

It's amazing when you realize the true gravity one person can have. It all seems so natural until that person is lost. There is then a small void that reminds you of how that influence made such a profound difference on you.

There are many here who I know would bring me immense grief if anything happened to them. I'm sure others feel the same as each new friendly furry that joins is doing so as a result of positive influences, like Gene and you. :)
