What I do is usually work with iMovie since I have a Apple mac laptop. It's an easier program already built in and usually create my speedpaint videos and video edit in there. Here's a basic video of video editing I found on YouTube that might help if you have an Apple computer.

I also use another program in my digital media classes for college called Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2015 to work with videos and editing. This will give you more options and more to work with. I'm still kinda new and familiar with the program so I'll give you a video found on YouTube for basic video editing in the program if that can help too.

You can use a software called "Camtasia Studio". It has a recording tool. It's not complicated and you can find plenty of tutorials on the web.

In my case I record using a streaming app. So when I do a stream everything gets recorded. After that I just import the videos in Camtasia Studio and speed them up.

It's not a complex software and gives you everything you need to make cool videos. Its not a god tier video editing software but if you're looking for something simple and powerfull it is perfect then.
