Treat the cash spend to repair (among other things) as a loan to the family. It's time they got their act together and paid you back. If they're going to treat you as a bank, you might as well act like it and charge interest.

Yeah, can relate. Managed, saved, scrimped every last dime and paid off the last of every property tax just before the deadline here. For another year, I am where I need to be and exactly where you need to find me unless cumcrust cable tries something stupid and illegal. It's so hard to be right where you need to be and to be whole in place, for your loved ones when the dogs nip constantly at your heels. Like you, I too need to rebuild two Delta ceramic cartridges for my personal bath and the kitchen. My toilet needs an American standard flapper valve change. Very easy to do, but if you need cash to finish out out? You look into weird things too make the monies to do it. Hard to do too when your contemporaries are as broke as you are. Friend with Saturn Vue needs roof and sun roof repair cannot pay me out in cash, but in favors. Fixed it, but payment in beer and my cheap cigars will not bolster the bank account....

But I am a sucker for a good job well done, so I took it and he's whole. *Sigh* One day, soon.... Karma will help us both I strongly believe. No evil need. No vengeance planned.
