The sad reality of the sensitive society, I can hardly joke anymore either without someone getting super upset by it somehow.


I am pretty sensitive I must admit, but I can usually laugh at a joke no matter how dark it is.

Another thing I've noticed, you can't have a discussion with someone if they have ANY sort of conflicting view without them throwing a shit fit.

Agree to disagree is something that seems to go over many people's heads :P

I do that sometimes, but generally over stuff I am very passionate about. That happens a lot from what I see, so I guess its not that much of a big deal.

Though, when it comes to things I dont really care about, I just say it is great that you like whatever it is I am not into, and just move on really :3

Political stuff is literally the worst when it comes to arguing and shit fits any more, I cant go anywhere without someone mentioning Emperor Trump, or "Fuck Trump" and then walls of arguments.

What makes me so sad about politics is that both parties often talk constantly about trying to make agreements with each other, but once they encounter one another, that talk just gets thrown out the window.

Mainly because when they DO get together, it's for television. So they care more about getting a good viewership in and courting voters, not having genuine debate.

Like I said, it seems that agreeing to disagree is just beyond some people's capabilities :P

Sad truth of it is, people expect you to be sensitive to their need sand bend over backwards to make sure you that they don't get upset. It goes right on back to what I said way back when about people feeling like entitled little shits because the world is teaching them that if they don't like something, then it's no problem for the offending thing to be taken away so that they're safe.

Also the prevalence of online communications, along with how easy it is to block out dissenting view-points it's very easy for these sorts to lock themselves into safe-space echo chambers. Thus worsening the oversensitive inability to deal with conflicting opinions.

On the one hand, the internet has been a great thing because it broadens our horizons, it lets us connect with and talk to people around the globe. On the other hand, too many people click a button that shuts out a viewpoint that's different from their own, and they never learn or grow as a person by exposing themselves to things that might make them think differently. They would rather live in their little shell, and tell people they've been 'triggered' when something comes along that might disturb the happy little lie they've built for themselves.

This is why I like differing opinions and view points. Because it gives you the chance to stand up for what you believe in, or question your values and preferences.
In short, it helps you grow as a person, even if you maintain consistent views and beliefs (which is also okay). But going completely unquestioned can make people become....entrenched in their own mindset. They don't really think about it, they just hold onto it.

Challenge what I've said. Give evidence or opinions to the contrary. If I've stated one of my beliefs that you don't agree with, share with me WHY.

For fuck's sake, make me THINK. I don't want to just sit around and make mouth noises at people. I want to have an actual conversation. What's the point of interaction, even, if all you're going to do is go through the motions and not actually get anywhere? We become better people, smarter people, more well-defined people, by having our views scrutinized, and then forced to defend them. Maybe we have a point and we change the mind of the challenger. Or maybe I realize that what I believed wasn't right/accurate/what have you, and I'm forced to rethink my stance on it.

Without growth, there's no point to life.
