A long-standign problem for me

Remember, I have a pateron! here's the link click here if interested!
So, ever since I was a kid, I had a certain problem with my allergies. Around the time the season started and the pollen was just beginning to get everywhere, in the mornings when I wake up, my throat would be so clogged by drainage that it would be painfully sore. In fact, it would be so bad that some times I would wonder if I was choking. The only ways to relieve the clogging I could find would be through coughing as much of the mucus out, eating, drinking, and waiting for time to take it's course.
As you may have guessed, this problem is back in spades. Today was the worst it's been in a long time. Now, I am clearly not the only man on earth with this issue, so please, tell me, does anyone else have a way to prevent this from happening when they sleep? I've tried sleeping in a more upright position, bracing my back with pillows, but I keep sliding down. In fact, the only times I can sleep in a sort of, sitting upright position, is when I'm on an airplane, and even then I keep sliding.
I have ways to get it out, but I just want to nip it in the bud before it even starts. I fear one of these days that the blockage will get so bad that I'll choke in my sleep on my own goo. I know it's silly, but people have died of dumber things in the past. Also, let's throw in my recent stomach issues, you know, the regurgitation into the mix. what if I have an upchuck while asleep with my throat clogged? yeah, I don't want to even consider that happening.
Speaking of that particular aspect, I am happy to say that I have seen a doctor about that... about 3-4 weeks ago. She instructed me to do four tests. The first three were pretty simple. Two of them were even almost the same the thing! They both required me to fast for 12 hrs, then go to a special place to get my blood tested (Again ((see in 2016, I had it tested at least twice and mom and I agreed it was getting excessive (((mind, it was before I even got the regurgitation issue to begin with))) )) ), and the other was to do a breath test. All I had to do was breathe into a bag, drink some citrus liquid in one gulp (those who know me, know I eat fast so that was a synch,) and then breathe into another bag. The third test was me just drinking water mixed with baking soda and seeing how often I burped within five minutes. The last test however, is where the hang up keeps happening.
See, this test requires a LOT of time devoted to it, about 27hrs, give or take. That's twelve for a special diet, twelve for fasting, and three for the actual test! With so much time needed to preform it, it's a good thing that I asked to have weekends off from my job every week since day one. Otherwise, this would have proved challenging (hard to regulate your diet at a grocery store!). However, somethings else has been preventing me from taking the test. About 3 of them. The first was that we didn't know how long it would take until we looked it up, so I missed my first window. The second time was because I wasn't even home, I was still in Alabama and we left the kit here in Massachusetts. The third was the cold I caught last week. I am almost over it, though you wouldn't guess as my allergies are really bad (see the first few paragraphs.) With how many cough drops I've been downing, and all the mucus that's been coming up, I was sure the test would have been invalidated.
It doesn't help how restrictive the diet is, as it will only let me eat plain chicken, plain turkey, or broiled fish for 12 hrs with water. I do mean ONLY, as the instructional video I watched eliminated everything else. Mom and I actually laughed over how the video handled it, asking "what can I eat then?" before they listed the only three things I could. I need to do this test this weekend, or mom will have to reschedule my doctor's appointment again. I hope I can do it this time, but I will need to be in the right mindset, and not be coughing up a lung trying to clear my throat.
After talking to one of my good online friends, the latest theory of what is wrong with me is one of the following two things. He suggested it was either low, or excessive stomach acid. I can actually believe the low, as I rarely feel the acidic burn when the food comes back up. It actually makes sense, but then if that's the case, then what can I do about it?
Anyway, sorry for the long journal, just wanted to write this for advice on how to keep my throat clear while I slept, not to rant about my health. I also want to stress that I don't think this is stress related, as I have been pretty stressed over the past week, and the problem hasn't been all that bad, at it's worse whenever I eat too much or breakfast/lunch. I think it might also be slightly mental, as it happens more if I feel guilty about eating too much.
Lastly, sorry I haven't uploaded any new youtube videos in a while, I've been distracted by other things and projects, such as the mashups, work, the packing in Alabama, and my cold. I will try to add the sound and get the latest video out asap.
