Hey there folks!
My bad for the massive absence here in these journals, but tax season is ripping me a new one, both metaphorically and quite literally. But I thought I’d take a moment to tell you what happened on 03/26/17, the last day of Furry Fiesta.
Due to tax season, I wasn’t able to attend all four days; however, I still wanted to go to at least the Sunday one and grab some sweet deals. So I hit the road at 7:00 AM and drove nonstop to Dallas, stopping at the local Grandy’s for their legendary breakfast buffet. As for dinner, I decided to go to my favorite restaurant, Spaghetti Warehouse. My bad for the Fossil watch image there, but I’m also using these images for my Instagram account, https://www.instagram.com/themramp/ .
I arrived at the Dallas Inter Continental around 9:35 AM CST and decided to explore Artist Alley and the Vendor Rooms. I met up with Skidd and Phuufy in the First Floor Dealer’s room. Chatted with them for a bit and bought some sweet merchandise from them before heading upstairs to the Artist Alley and Vendor’s Room. That was one item I would like to note that was pretty weird…two dealer rooms. I also had the pleasure of meeting SteelDragonFist from the Picarto streams and Lann from FurAffinity. I even had the pleasure to meet @Boneitis’s good friend, FeretStudios (https://twitter.com/FeretStudios). I also had the opportunity to chat it up with Miu, the creator of the Ask Jam series and saga. I did buy a few prints here and there, but I mostly ordered commissions.
I didn’t actually attend a single panel this year around. There were a couple of writing ones I wanted to attend, but I missed them as I was completely blown away with the sweet fursuits. Seriously, I’m a fan of cosplay in general, but I have never seen such intricate designs, details, and patterns in cosplays. I had the opportunity to chat with quite a few of them and was shocked to learn that some of these took several hours and hundreds upon hundreds of dollars. I will say that they were rather playful with their mannerisms and quite open with their hugs. So here are a few of my images.
And here are some additional images. I was switching between Photo and Square.
And as always, here are some pictures of some of the sweet merchandise I bought at the convention. I will say that I did buy quite a bit in UberQuest and some art books from Miu, not to mention some con exclusive prints from a couple of unique artists. As for expenses…
Convention Ticket…….$ 30.00
Meals……………………… 47.22
Books and Prints…… 160.55
Gas……………………… 42.23
Commissions…….. 80.00
Total………………… $ 360.00
=========
Overall, this was a pretty cool con to go to for one day. I wish I could have gone for all three days, but my work won’t allow me to take the time off due to tax season. If you folks could, I seriously suggest heading to a furry con as it’s quite the experience.
And one last thing before I sign out for you fine folks. Skidd and Phuffy had a life size cut out of Sesame from UberQuest. She’s only 5 feet tall. Even in the real world, she’s smaller than most people. XD
