Terms of Service (TOS) Update
Minor Change
Changed "In plain English..." to a more polite phrasing of "In other words..."Acceptable Upload Policy (AUP) Changes
Content Guidelines
Clarified the General, Mature, and Adult categories to more clearly and accurately describe what is acceptable in each rating. Previously these rating guidelines were not as clear they should have been.General Changes
Re-added titles to AUP sections to make the general purpose of each section more clear.AUP 2.1 Reminders
After receiving feedback from artists and customers we’ve scaled back the penalties against YCH and auction reminders. Auctions, reminders, and YCH submissions need to be appropriately tagged as such in the category lists. In a future update, these will be prevented from displaying on the “Recent Submissions” category to prevent people from trying to flood the front page. In its place we will be implementing a recent YCH and Art Sale section on the front page (along with a “View More” button), and encourage people to browse for art to purchase this way.
AUP 2.3 Streaming Notices
Revised the policy with the line “streaming notices must still comply with all other rules in this document.” This clarifies that you can post a stream notice but they can’t use content that otherwise violates the AUP.AUP 2.5 Citing Sources
Added the line “If an artist or character owner wished to be kept anonymous they must be credited as anonymous.”AUP 2.7 Quality - Removed
The former AUP 2.7, "Poor quality content (such as fuzzy audio, blurry images, or incorrectly rotated content) is prohibited," has been removed.AUP 2.12 Minors In Sexual Situations
This policy was updated and moved to AUP 2.7 as the old 2.7 (see update above this line) was removed. We’ve added clarification to show “exceptions may be made for non-sexual depictions of birth and breastfeeding."AUP 6.X Main Gallery/Scraps
This section was removed as it really didn’t belong in the AUP.Violations and Consequences
We have re-written the notices, removed the Strikes, and simplified the list to make it easier to follow and understand. As an example: If FA administration gives a warning, and that warning isn’t heeded, it may result in a suspension. Previously, some users interpreted strikes to mean they could continue to repeat offenses multiple times before action would be taken. This makes the process easier to understand.

there should be a law against them
As far as changes go, everything looks the same :/
But this time you just gotta update it regurlary so we get to see all the awesome artworks, and not keep the same for months. xD
*returns on April 2nd*
WHYYY?!?!?!
I thought your policy was that art comes first. Now I have a colorful banner right on top of my artworks again, stealing attention away and ruining the composition of the artwork.
Removing the banner from submission pages was one of the best changes lately, why on Earth would you do this now?
While user feedback is obviously important, your average users know little to nothing about design or presentation of art. They think the banner is cool, and can't see beyond that, since they are not designers. And as several studies pointed out, users/consumers do not consciously know what is actually good for them, this is why the industry moved from asking them what they like to give them options to try and chose. As one example of these studies, if you ask people what kind of coffee they like, the majority will answer "dark hearty roast", but if you give them a bunch of different coffees and tell them to chose which one they like the most, the majority will chose milky weak coffee over a dark hearty roast.
Have you ever seen a gallery that exhibits artworks unframed and tightly packed next to each other? No, and there is good reason why not. Having other images right next to the art with no strong visual separation causes these things (banner and ads here) to compete for attention with the artwork's subject as well as destroying the composition as they visually blend together into one complex shape as much as our brain is concerned. This is why art is usually framed, and this is why artworks are displayed with some empty space around them, so that they become a clearly separated object, locking out the influence of other objects.
Even if you implemented the ability for users to have their own personal banners on their profile (which I would personally LOVE!), I would still not want any banner right on top of my art, for the above reasons. It's fine anywhere else, journals or profile, just not on submission pages.
ArtStation, admittedly the top industry art site is a great example. They have banners on galleries, but not on actual submissions! Also if you notice, while it has no border on the image's left to allow for more space for the art, it has a distinct separation on the right between the art and anything (including ads) in the sidebar.
Example:
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/xrr2O
I liked the banner not being on artwork pages. Although the overall beta experience is not satisfying enough for me to use yet.
I'm fairly sure a lot of artists would agree with me that the banner (and the ad right under the art) are very bad for the representation of the artworks.
https://telegram.org/
and i hate that the banner takes up the whole top of the screen again. i wish there was a way to remove it.
but overall, nice update!
keep it up bro~
At least untill the banners are updated with new art once a month again. cause i DO like seeing new art.
but with it being the same thing for over a year now, its just kinda boring and takes up space~
What about the banner before the Zootopia one?
You can still make whatever comments you have about the changes as top-level comments, as usual.
Excited to see more change
Also when I pop the side scroll for my fa menu it covers my whole screen. My gf's phone works fine with that though.
Middling everything on the profile looks clean but the drop down menus to go into the gallery etc is a annoying color and unnecessary.
That's just my opt tho
Personally I liked seeing various banners up there, and having them come from artists of the site is... Well, a website is nothing without anyone using it, so having something by the users being part of the websites identification seems just right to me. Myself I'd be really happy if this makes a comeback! :3
And honestly, if this returns I'd totally give it a go and would try making one for the site in hopes for it to be picked. xD
I personally liked the old colors before this update.
I am something new on this page but I read the rules and it seems that some ads are violating them.
I apologize if this causes some drama is not my intention, it's just curiosity.
1) how should I report this the next time I see it.
2) I find it strange that some of these ad announcements are allowed to appear .. Ie read that you are in charge of reviewing the .gif ads before publishing them ... but maybe I misunderstood ... whatever . Thanks for your attention. :3
2) House ads are proofed before going online, but if we made a mistake, we'll fix it ASAP.
It has been a pleasure talking to you.:3
Not only you should be more careful about what ads you let appear here but also, the placement should be greatly revised. Snapping them right next to the artwork is ruining the art, especially when it's a sharp red animated super attention-grabby thing, as many of them are.
Lot of us would gladly support FA and/or the artists advertising on it by white-listing FA, but the ads are sometimes extremely intrusive.
I, to be honest, do not white-list FA because some of them are so annoying that I can't properly enjoy artworks because of them - first and foremost the banner ad right below the art (which is usually animated, in high contrast and bright colors and super attention-grabby) is annoying visually as well (see my points in my other comment about the banner). I sometimes check without blocking to see if there are any interesting artist ads running but it's too intrusive for me to keep blocking off.
Did someone dun goof.
This may be the first change I am actively super pumped for! :D
Is this going to be on the classic version of the site as well or only the new version? I could never get used to the layout of the new version so I am still in the old fuddy duddy version like the resistant to change old fluff I am XD
Its been a rocky road but its good to see that things are starting to streamline a bit for you guys.
Im pretty bad at it too. Having a prompt be like "yeah no you have to do this" might help.
though they mightn't realize it right now. 5 is easy to fill, too. Species, Gender(s), Color(s), Theme, Character(s) name.
These are things I search myself when browsing around art.
But yes, asking for a handful of tags in order to upload something would be a good addition. And honestly, it's not too much work. Even if you upload 10 things a day this is doable.
Species, anthro or feral, gender, name, artist's name, rating, theme, medium, kind of art (fullbody, bust, ect...) - those are really basic things one should know about their art. And already the species can give one multiple tags to add, example: Feline - Cat - American Bobtail - feral, and now add something like cellshade/pixel/painting whatever, and maybe the characters name or who it's for, and you got your 5 min. tags already. It's so easy, honestly. I don't understand how people claim not to be able to come up with any tags... Seems to be pure lazyness afterall... ^^;
I don't think they overlapped the times I have used search.
Addition to tag Cat/feline/bobtail/ +kitty I always put kitty in for cat. you never know when someone might
search for a cute kitty. And some people search for boy, while some search male. (girl/female). It's super
easy to come up with tags. "What would someone search to find this?" is something I always ask myself.
Had to zoom out to press that X.
Also have to scroll a lot further down in user page to view a users gallery.
But I'm glad the header is now global.
Keep up the good work.
It's good to see ya'll doing updates lately. I'm glad ya'll are trying to make the site better. It's very good to see. :)
Keep up the great work!
EDIT: Totally forgot to mention, but I'm super excited about the Art Sale section. That's going to be an AWESOME add-on!
EDIT 2: I noticed when I was editing my comment that the "cancel" and "save" button are reversed from the reply comment window. Would you also mind switching the "cancel" and "save" button so it's consistent? Thank you!
"In its place we will be implementing a recent YCH and Art Sale section on the front page (along with a “View More” button), and encourage people to browse for art to purchase this way."
I have noticed two bugs on the beta recently:
-Link Underlines:
They look/work fine for all regular links, but i have noticed that it also creates the dotted line through icons. For any icon that contains transparent pixels, the dotted line becomes visible... and it just looks weird.
-When attempting to change my Account Settings:
My browser now notifies me that the page is "insecure" and my password may be compromised if I type it in on that page.
...looks like I'm staying on the beta forever. :,D
Account Settings page is giving a flag that it's insecure, but when you click submit the content IS transmitted via SSL. It's something we're looking into.
Wow i live under a rock...
2. When your going to see what person commented on your art, u can't see the comment cause the ads are in the way. U can only see some comments on the journals section, and the journals in general.
I found the issue in IE11, and I'm working on a fix.
thats how i "politely convince" my fiance to clean the bathroom!
This actually bugs me. It's not a big deal i guess, but it irks my OCD majorly. I worked very hard to cut my profile info down so it would fit into my screen perfectly... and now I need to crop it down even more.
-wishing i had not bothered with the beta now since I am stuck with it-
It's under "Account Security Level".
Im kinda waiting for the feature to disable people from watching my stuff, like on facebook.
because blocking people with annoying comments dont work, if you do their friends come to comment or even send false reports to cause you trouble >.>
Reports are investigated before any action is taken; "false" reports should not result in any action against you provided you've not broken any rules, so isn't something I'd worry about.
We can look into and try to determine the reasons why, if any, may be causing it not to display.
We can look into and try to determine the reasons why, if any, may be causing it not to display.
Is it just me, or were they deleted?
It's annoying to exclude specific tags in searches only to be forced to see them anyways because people didn't tag their pics.
I would also be very happy to be able to create personal folders in notes. It would really help to organize requests, rps,...
Something I'd like to see in a future update is a way to organize Favorites with a folder system. I'd like to be able to separate my SFW faves from my NSFW faves.
2.10 Flashing Images
Normal people may not be able to judge what kinds of intensities and frequencies can induce epileptic seizures. You may want to include some brief explanations on that. Regardless, I think you should make exceptions for people who make animations by allowing them to WARN the user before playing it. In the case of Flash, that's easy - just add a warning on the title screen wherever the Play button is. This is consistent with warnings given before TV broadcasts. For GIFs, that may not be possible unless you start with a long first frame, or implement a new feature that flags the the animation as containing flashing images, and let people click to play, or let users turn off animations entirely from their account settings (which will make all GIF and SWF files click-to-play by default).
7.2 Stacking
In this section, the "In other words..." clause describes a rule which is NOT mentioned at all in the main clause, specifically "If a submission violates multiple rules each rule can be held against you." That's a fine rule, but it needs including on both sides.
2.7 Content Involving Minors
I see some work went into this, which of course is very much welcomed. However, I'm still not sure it goes far enough to safeguard certain users who have been unfairly punished recently, i.e. in this case: https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/8103140/ The exceptions for breastfeeding and birth aren't going to be applicable to Samareck's naturist work. He is still in danger of being in violation of these rules several times over if an admin or user wished to be cause unnecessary grief. Do you have any further word from Legal about how we can handle this, or is this all that can be done?
It's so cheesey.
uBlock Origin works too
I use AdBlock plus for everything else, but I didn't see I could do that, thanks!
Got it working.
.journal-content-container {border-left: 2px #808080 solid;}
Think of how Deviantart looked in 2005-2008
But dun tell me I didn't warn you all.
The places that don't allow it, got common sense in their mind. Child/Cub sex isn't "freedom of expression" in art, it's "Promoting an illegal act" against someone who's young and can't defend themselves, especially if it's child vs an adult that can overpower them or manipulate them.
In any case, your expectancy of increased censorship in this regard would do nothing but harm artists who don't even draw what you take issue with; There are a lot of characters that look younger because they're chibi or are drawn in a cartoony style, but not necessarily under 18. In other words, you're asking the mods to potentially extend a ban to an art style altogether. What can I say... mixing fantasy with real life and protecting fictional characters with Earthly laws is no easy task.
I mean characters that are obviously draw underaged, especially canon characters with the age of under 18+ or in an anime or ingame, things I reported were also related to things like a parent having sex with their child (underaged), the kid WAS NOT Chibi at all so yeah, stop. Things I point out aren't usually what you think. Kinda obvious what I was talking specifically about. Some users on here can't understand anything, making random assumptions.
If anything is Chibi, dwafed or midget, it should be labeled as so to stop suspicions. If it's literally a child character, then it should be reviewed more to make sure and removed, that's why there's a rule against the art of it.
I shouldn't be getting "They may be 18, or probably 18" responses because that enough doesn't give relief of a situation. Suppose to do more than assume.
There's common sense adults and there's just plain sick train wrecks. Don't educate me on something you're mentally incapable of understanding that's actually wrong. Thanks.
Furry Network and some other art sites recently put up a rule to not allow this type of art anymore because of potential legal issues , anthro, feral or human, it's not the matter of "don't look don't like" it's what it promotes, it's the most worst of things to be into. Just because it's fiction, doesn't meant it's innocent, if you like looking at underage characters/kids in sexual situations then it's not so different looking at irl children the same way, you're fantasizing about it in a fantasy sense already.
Now for me, I love fiction human men sexually, reality men includes that too because they're men also, just realistic.
Them saying i'm not an adult about agreeing with cub/child art porn freedom is stupid, because I care for the well being of a group of ppl who can't defend themselves in these matters, emotionally, mentally and physically, there's even babies who suffer. It all can start with a small fiction fantasy. We got enough Child molesters and abusers on the news lately, and all because of ppl promoting it to be "harmeless" in a fantasy setting first, it shouldn't be encouraged.
I don't deal with Nazis like her.
But yeah, I can unsurprisingly see Sapphirus sprouting their madness again: "You agree with drawings of furry characters that look like kids having sex, so you must be a child molester in real life too"! Never mind that they're fiction to begin with thus a world with no real or permanent consequences, or that it's a different species with a potentially different biology or mind or social norms (where 18 years of age could be the equivalent of 7 or 30 for us). There needs to be a special kind of pills for this sort of thing.
Also, seriously... why is this person on a furry site? I mean by their terminology, isn't furry art promoting bestiality or something? I wouldn't be surprised if they're like this one person in Youtube comments who, and I kid you not that I actually had this conversation, were against anthros because they were convinced "they can only exist as the byproduct of bestiality"... even after an army of people tried explaining to them basic biology.
I actually support her right to post her non-furry content on a website that was exclusively designed for the Furry Community in the first place, but if she really wants to piss me off she's got a few religious submissions in her gallery that I consider acts of persecution toward my family. She can invite me to play her game, but I've got Scottish, Jewish, Pagan, Polish, and Native American ancestry. I can spin anything that comes out of her mouth into antisemitic hate-speech if I wanted to. Frankly I wouldn't deign to give even half a shit of Satan himself were grinding my fingers off with a crayon sharpener. As far as I'm concerned, she's just one of those people who weren't hit hard enough by their pussy-ass parents as a kid, so her parents are just as much to blame for her stupidity as she is.
The biggest ambiguity is that she's complaining about the rules of a site intended for a fandom she isn't interested in. So she's a non-furry on a furry site complaining about what kinds of furry art furries post on it. To make yet another analogy, that's like a straight person joining a gay forum then telling the moderators "please stop allowing so much sodomy to slip off your radar, you should only allow acceptable gay pictures". Not the pinnacle of absurdity, but it does make her stance look even less serious... she probably has no reason to browse any of the art here to begin with.
"A through Z" type of things are completely fine to be drawn despite being illegal acts (as you have given examples).
I'm also not one for artist censorship in this way. Despite there being art on FA currently that I can say
to myself "Ew that's gross" or "Ew that's wrong" to, it's not really something I concern myself over.
It's art. Why should I tell Y user they can't draw Z because it's not in my particular interest?
(to be honest, it's what I'd use a blacklist for if FA had one.)
I was actually enjoying a debate about this with the fellow. It is an interesting topic in my opinion. I'd love to here debates like this, though a different reasoning besides the "Its illegal act/immoral" in art would be nice. Here's one that I discuss with usually when playing the other field. Probably the most likely reason FA wouldn't allow specifically cub porn would be that the site would be unavailable in more countries. I think that's a much more understandable reason. The community here is generally a really great , comfortable place. Much better than most internet places. It would suck to not have FA because of country internet regulations.
Ah, but FAs rules don't even allow artistic nudity. Which I think is still strict. I'd like to hear the reasoning for that from admins. Art that'd be like kid Goku from Dragon ball isn't allowed. Story: There was once an artist I watched who made amazingly beautiful pieces, but ended up suspended because they drew an masterpiece of a kid fur learning to play the violin, but in natural nudity. It was really sad that such a work was taken down. There was absolutely nothing sexual about it. Nudity doesn't have to be sexual.
On a Side note more related to your mention of styles of art taking a hit for it, I'm always afraid to draw women on here for that reason. If they aren't the exact same shape, and style as everyone else's it's terrifying to think about, and really boring. Its like every female is an overlay of each other. D boobs and hips the size of New York, or the body of Jupiter are the only two types I really see. I'm okay with hips and all, but I'm not a fan of drawing large boobs. They're both really difficult to draw right, and I don't particularly enjoy large boobs to begin with. (Too big. In the way. Heavy burden) However the biggest problem comes with my style of art being focused around cute, and the weird focus that a or b breasts mean young to some people. (I wouldn't even be able to draw myself with that in mind XD). Though I don't draw much mature besides Gore. It just always scares me. I really fear FA on that subject. I usually just don't draw women, or my lady characters are all feral characters. *shrugs*
That is indeed unfortunate to hear, alongside many similar examples of pointless censorship. Perhaps some of us will live to see an era where artists are no longer banned or fined or arrested for what they draw. Though even then, I doubt humanity can be civilized quite to such an extent... many examples have shown the contrary all too well.
This is not to say that the very concept is not wrong to some, as we all have our varying opinions about all walks of life. But we should ask ourselves a very serious question. Is this really more wrong than cannabalism, murder, torture, and other inhumane/cruel acts? If so, why/why not? What makes it so incomprehensively evil?If we can argue that this kind of art promotes child porn/flicks, why can we not also make the same exact argument about each other act that is considered just as inhumane or cruel? And if not, -why- are these irrelevant?
Once more, there is indeed no difference between drawing kid porn and drawing rape (of adult characters) or gore porn or terrorist fanart or anything else: People once again just mindlessly deemed kids having sex as the only theme in the world that's so bad it even justifies a fiction police, solely because it triggers a special level of being easily offended and acting on instinct alone. If people were to take this concept seriously, drawings depicting any crime in real life (including robbing a bank) would have to be illegal, and we'd basically have to do an occidental version of the Chinese cultural revolution and go back to (comic)book burning in school playgrounds.
Lastly, in the short term, anthro characters are indeed a thing of fiction. I do however hope people realize that, someday in the history of mankind, technology will change that... and before we'll have warp drives and hologram displays we may just have the ability to shape shift into our fursonas in real life. It's depressing to think that once that happens, people will be preoccupied with going up in arms about destroying new kinds of NSFW furry art because they're now too realistic for their fragile feelings...
Drawing illegal acts such as legit underaged porn in art is considered an irl thing because you're drawing it on your computer or paper, thus can be used against you, just like ppl get arrested for having irl child porn on their computers. You're trying to make it seem like censoring art in this way shouldn't be allowed, which is like supporting Pedophilia/pedophiles. A Fiction fantasy can be discovered and used for irl legal action if caught possibly.
Difference between what I mentioned and to the other is one is actually an underaged child, and other is an adult in a smaller form or drawing style. Though, if caught irl, well gl with that case of convincing it's not a child, technically i'm not targeting those types of art + midget, dwarf and such, only legit underaged porn. Why else are newer art sites avoiding allowing this art to be posted, to avoid "legal" actions. Common sense. There's a fine line between a Kink and just an unacceptable kink such as child porn. I know there's others too but kids are a top priority pretty much in society today.
fiction, I am concerned. Blowing up a person like a two story balloon over isn't something
you should do in the real world either. Most likely it'd get you arrested for assault or murder.
(As a Real life vs common art theme comparison).
ah crap i reworked my whole gallery ratings for nothing...
i understand the dimension restriction but if file size limit is increased then so could the quality on the animated avatars.
or would that not be possible due to server/site related issue's?
As for the new rules, they don't sound worse than the previous ones so that's good. There seems to be one underage characters saying "exceptions may be made for non-sexual depictions of birth and breastfeeding": Great stuff... but please wake me up when an update will say "the world just moved into the 21th century and we've abolished the thought police altogether, please accept our apologies for having to do something as ridiculous as banning art of a specific theme for 10 frigging years".
Don't make a separate mobile app, just keep messing this one up, that'll do great
most of the buttons and function menus are scattered around in odd places. It just feels cluttered together without much thought for ease of use or function.
Classic may have it's faults too but it is fairly straight forward and easy to pick up. Sometimes keeping the basics and not being bogged down with flashy bells and whistles is the better option. I poke around Beta whenever they make big upgrades to "kick the tires and check the engine" so to speak to see if I like it or not. At least to give it a chance.
Of course this is all just my opinion. I'm sure there are lots of people who love the Beta, and that's great for them.
Though until I see a visible improvement of Beta over Classic, I'll just stick with Classic. ^,..,^
Also an annoyance with Classic that I no longer have with Beta is that the old layout had such tiny fonts! I could read them well of course, but with Beta it is a lot easier and more relaxed. Biggest downside is that the non-Dark color schemes looked absolutely horrible last time I checked.
big text, huge sidebar
but i guess most people here aren't using dumpster crt's that are as old as netscape
Also are there plans to implement "next" and "previous" buttons in on mobile when viewing pictures?
The reason I gave up doing auctions was because I had no way of promoting them. Only a handful of people read my journals, while my submissions are viewed by thousands. I'm not one of those people who spam reminders/notices and it severely limited my ability to do adoptable auctions/YCHs.
then NOT abide by what you just told Bourbon and they will still get in trouble. Basically ANYONE that
does not READ THIS COMMENT WON'T know that they may be violating the rules.
If you are going to change a rule then you need to include info like this to PROTECT your users.
It would not be fair to a user to be reported and an admin smack them even with a warning if they
just happen to NOT see this response you made.
2.1 Reminders
Submissions used to remind users of content for sale are permitted. The rating of the reminder must be the same as the original submission according to our guidelines (AUP Section 1.1). Reminders may be removed and reposted only after 4 hours have elapsed.
As with any other rule, submissions need to abide by all rules in the AUP, not just 2.1.
Expanding on the information in the comment was just a courtesy; everything I said was already covered by the actual policy document, though.
if you block someone they can NO LONGER see your page? As in like the deactivated accounts.
If I block someone and they try going to my page it will just say this user has you on their block
list.
Reason I ask is because I have been having ALOT of trouble with a user on here for over a year now.
I have reported him many times and he evades my block by sending his friends at me. He is acting like
some psycho stalker and I would feel much more comfortable if he just wasn't able to access my page at all.
Can we PLEASE get a feature like that?
people want this feature as well, especially when people are stalking
your page a little too much because you blocked them >__>
The former AUP 2.7, "Poor quality content (such as fuzzy audio, blurry images, or incorrectly rotated content) is prohibited," has been removed.
So in other words; Get rid of having any level of standards, and turn this place into photobucket.
Man I'm glad I only come back here to poke fun at the faults.
As a suggestion for the future it would be cool if reminders had a sort of "4/12/24 hour view-able limit" and they were deleted as soon as that time period is reached. OR you know in journal notifications where it lets you "select streams" ? Maybe it can be like that and it can say "Nuke Reminders" Since I know watchers always get annoyed with them.
Truthfully I post reminders for the sake of getting on the front page for the few minutes to show off my YCH. To notify my watchers journals are more then fine. I am aiming to just show people who aren't watchers my YCH since they may have missed it.
Thank you again for listening to your artists <3 Great update!
THE ONLY ISSUE IM RUNNING INTO IS... I CAN'T ACCESS.. MY NOTES... I am stuck in Outbox mode and maybe I'm missing it but I can't seem to switch to inbox mode.
EDIT: CLICK THE FOLDERS OPTION TO CHANGE TO INBOX IM STUPID THANKS

What the actual hell? You realize that this means it becomes dumping grounds for low-grade art, right? Did people complain about this being unfair ad nauseum or what? Can someone clarify this? To me, it's just asking for trouble and my feed will be flooded with crap.
You don't need Technicalities, you need clear and distinct lines to be drawn.
What sort of situations are there that you can cite which gave rise to this decision?
A lot of what I search for, there's really stupid looking drawings or just stuff I'm not into when I search.
Yeah thanks FA, I really want balloon shaped furries vomiting and shitting everywhere. :/
so private agreements between parties is superseded by a mandate to disclose.
that much was nothing new, but now there's the absurd clarification:
if you can't disclose sources, just make a meaningless anonymous citation.
i know the ritual with IP is to pretend it's someone's rights being protected, but can we even pretend anymore?
whose rights are being protected? nobody. not the artist. not the model. not the commissioner.
but there's nothing more important than going through the motions of the ritual anyway.
Recent subs & reminders:
i would say it'd be nice to see the constant YCH/adopt advertising spam in its own category
opinions aside, things are more efficiently browsed when they are sortable.
but i gave up on that a long time ago and just element-block half the site.
Question, if someone falsely reports for a reminder, can it be contested- if so, how?
Thanks for the info and updates <3
BTW, thanks for the updates. I'm really happy about that "watched by/watching" fix. It was driving me crazy.
Or bigger submissions? my full animations are way bigger than 10MB, sometimes its like 60MB
Or a chance to upload MP4 or MOV files? it would be awesome <3
Also nice updates :3
B) I understand that the 1280x1280 and 10mb limits may be raised in the near future once legacy issues are fixed. This was mentioned in a previous dragoneer/fender journal's comment thread.
C) Due to their sizes some times, video files are currently unsupported, however I am writing a walkthrough for users to setup flash containers that embed the video from an external URL and load it that way. I will add to this comment once completed.
I do have a request, maybe it's something that's already on your list: For searches, can we have a default for our searches, or maybe it remembers the last settings we had? I tend to not want to search for anything other than art, but every time I go to the search it defaults back to everything being checked. I remember in the Classic it defaulted to what you had set last in terms of rating, type, date/relevancy/popularity. Can we get that back?
If so, it's in the sidebar under "manage subscription"
Compare http://i.imgur.com/EMwkJkC.png to http://i.imgur.com/6cDt6hk.png, which seems less eye-stabbingly-bright? :P
I'm happy to see links are now quite a bit more obvious, but they still don't change color when clicked (showing that the link has been visited before) and I'd like it if there was a way to disable the paw icon next to external links.
It'd be nice if the submission lightbox would open on one click, zoom the image to full scale on a second click, and close on the third click. I've seen a lot of sites operate this way.
Please re-add the "Select All", "Remove", "Invert", and "Nuke" options back at the top of the submissions page. It can be rather inconvenient to have to scroll all the way to the bottom of my subs to remove them at times. I'm pretty sure this has been missing since October and I know many others have requested this be brought back as well.
The comment box on journals was moved to the top in the last update, which was a much welcomed changed, but not the comment box on submissions. Why?
Still wish we could collapse comments. IE http://i.imgur.com/ljhaG6T.gifv We've all seen comment chains that go on forever, being able to collapse comments would make skipping those huge chains thousands of times faster than just scrolling for dozens of seconds.
Have it so that nested comments beyond a certain depth (say 6) are hidden behind a "load more comments" link that when clicked expands to show more comments. EG http://i.imgur.com/A8nfNLw.gifv
Nested comments beyond a depth of something like 9 should have a "continue this thread" link that loads a new page of comments starting from that comment.
The last two suggestions are taken directly from Reddit, which deal with huge, long comment threads. If these two things didn't exist, then the comments section of any post would quickly become unreadable past a certain depth, which is exactly what happens on here.
We have all seen them, threads that get so long that the comment boxes are like 70 pixels wide and a billion pixels tall.
There still needs to be a 100% foolproof way to differentiate which comment is replying to which person because a user should be able to quickly and easily see who is talking to who with a single glance. I mentioned this in the last journal and in last year's October journal. I go quite in depth and provide example mockups to help drive my point https://www.furaffinity.net/journal...../#cid:51153665.
Overall the beta is coming along quite nicely, but has room for improvement.
I hope to hear some feedback on my feed back c: Usability is very important to me.
Second, are there plans to add more advanced search filters such as for gender, single character or multiple characters, just to provide basic examples.
And yes this is a suggestion.
You make the rules more clearer and making good changes, instead of making a lot of tools that has no much use than just a reason to require premium membership like dA.
Kudos to you, guys.
Also, I do remember how confusing the rules felt back then when I was more new here.
2. Oh banner again. Meh.
3. And I prefered previous colorisation of the profile. It was of more blue-gray shade I think :v
I mean, I go in my gallery and there's no list of folders or link to them.
Would be better if tagging were mandatory, like other sites. Something akin to requiring three tags minimum would be great in helping make the site a little more searchable.
The only thing I think I would suggest is getting rid of the pawprints next to links again and also those dots underneath the text. If you have multiple links next to each other it just makes everything, particularly profiles, look really messy. Making it look like plain text was so much better and a lot easier on the eyes.
Also, something Id like to suggest for maybe the future?
A search function in your notes. Like username based. It's something I feel would be really helpful!
Other than that, I like what you guys have goin on! Keep up the great work ^^
I used to use AdBlock, but it is a terrible resource hog (and the company has controversial views as well). I still block over two thousand known ad- and malware-domains at the routing level through my external firewall.
My belief was there's a reason they call it the "Beta" theme — if they aren't requesting feedback, it should have a different name.
Where the invert, select all, nuke buttons used to be is now the older, newer buttons and it is kind of annoying since when I try to invert or select all I keep pressing the older button instead and its a real bother.
This can be worked around by updating your submission file, which thankfully helps artists in keeping submissions at a decent quality. Still it's not a default functionality that applies to the initial upload, and having one would make much more sense now I believe.
For example, Google seems to allow 2-3 attempts to login for a given session before forcing a CAPTCHA. There's likely more to it, but at minimum they nearly never require a CAPTCHA for the first attempt. If the goal is to limit automated logins, maybe consider allowing X number of requests for session/IP in Y amount of time before always showing the prompt?
You might also be able to ditch the classic CAPTCHA method if you switch to allowing the JavaScript-less reCAPTCHA as per the docs: https://developers.google.com/recap.....script-enabled
I do appreciate using an accessibility-enabled CAPTCHA method so blind/low-vision users can still access the site.
Thanks for updating the site, and best of luck with shaping things up further!
(Oddly enough, I couldn't see the "Type your comment here" input box until I switched to Classic theme, using Firefox 52, Ubuntu Linux, NoScript partially whitelisted + ublock₀ + some other minor DOM modifying addons. It shows up on other submissions, so maybe it's just a temporary journal bug for heavily-commented journal entries.)
While i understand some people wanting to use submissions as reminders, it'd be great if people could choose NOT to get them too.
So reminders are allowed now, okay I get that but is there a certain format we have to follow?
Before if we wanted to advertise a reminder it had to be a whole new art piece. Or we could add in
the piece's desc "For YCH options check these out"
I guess what I am saying is. You are telling us we can post reminders but you haven't said
WHAT is acceptable as a reminder. I wouldn't be asking this if SEVERAL people hadn't been reported in the
past for literally doing what the rules stated. Do we need to still make ALL NEW content for a reminder AD?
Can we post like a cropped version of the YCH for sale and say GO HERE (Link)
What CAN we post for a reminder without being smacked with a violation.
But great update!
This is a furry website, honestly it's really retarded that a website devoted to fantasy is so involved in censorship simply because a bunch of idiots aren't mature enough to handle a fantasy drawing of 8-year-old anthropomorphic animals fucking like Hugh Hefner.
A question about AUP 2.12 I'm doing foor a friend: Will these exceptions also relax on naturist/nudist images of a non-sexual nature/intent?
Still hoping there will be an option to hide the 'recently watched' thing, though. I happen to like privacy lmao.
Other than that, lookin good peeps.
On the submissions page, can we please get rid of the newest/oldest at the bottom of the page?
I keep clicking it thinking its the select all/delete buttons and its really obnoxious.
If you are doing them right, it should work.
it needs to be [ ] and not ( ) for the commands.
Not sure what might be wrong since it works for me.I use the center aligned text all the time.
Cause when I posted up this
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/23061150/
It's got the center tags, but it's not centering.
Tried perhaps updating the text to regular, then adding the centered commands?I don't understand what you mean by that.
When it's disabled it centers correctly.
If you want I can raise a TT for this to get it resolved, or I can send you the information and you can do it, if you want to.
Either way, it's a fix the admins need to put through, but a simple one of that.
might take a while for the change to be implemented, but with hope it'll be done soon.
Keep an eye on your submission over the coming weeks and see if it changes in any way (the description, that is)
Hope this helps.
This policy was updated and moved to AUP 2.7 as the old 2.7 (see update above this line) was removed. We’ve added clarification to show “exceptions may be made for non-sexual depictions of birth and breastfeeding."
Glad to see this here. Maybe I'll actually draw something like this and post it here in the future.
LMFAO
Are you seriously concerned for boobs and butts and not for literal shit and piss and gore and younameit disgusting fetish not being hidden under spoilers?
Nudity: Free of nudity of any kind, as well as outlines of genitalia, sheaths, female nipples, or detailed/exaggerated bulges. Nudity is defined as the open display of genitalia or exposed female nipples. (Taken straight from the general submission part of the AuP, since avatars need to follow that. Nothing about butts/boobs unless it's straight up porn.)
There's no indication whether a submission has been assigned to a folder or no. Would be good if under the title we could have a "SubmissionName: in FolderName" to speed things up.
AUP 2.1 Reminders
After receiving feedback from artists and customers we’ve scaled back the penalties against YCH and auction reminders. Auctions, reminders, and YCH submissions need to be appropriately tagged as such in the category lists.
In a future update, these will be prevented from displaying on the “Recent Submissions” category to prevent people from trying to flood the front page. Oh, cool, so you guys won't scream at me anymore if I post a reminder for a YCH, but you let other artists slide when they do this. xD
Oh but if you're just a normal random person, nah, you get shafted.
As for the argument of whether or not underage fur characters should be allowed to be shown in sexual situations...I believe that FA should allow these, BUT...the picture must have a thumbnail that warns of the type of content, must be properly tagged, and labeled as Adult Content. I'm a firm believer of "Don't like it, don't see it", and I think with proper steps being mandatory, things could improve.
Also, this is just a niggling concern of mine, but...in notes, when sending a note to a user, pressing enter while on the subject line sends the note. Kinda frustrating when it happens and I send a blank note by accident.
If you have a lot of terms you want to exclude, this can still get pretty clunky, but it's a way to filter your searches that will be immediately available to you, and I'm pretty sure if you wanted you could write a userscript to make appending a certain standard set of exclusions more convenient.
First off, I use dark beta, and my mobile is a galaxy s7. Now recently I have discovered that I have no way of editing my submisions on my phone, even if I tell it to make it desktop view. Not even "manage submissions" tab has anything for me.
I also noticed that I cannot send in a trouble ticket on mobile. If I do just the regular mobile way there is no "send" or "submit" button. If I tell my phone to display it as a desktop site, the submit button appears but disappears after I type out my message.
Thanks in advance for fixing these issues!
4. Screenshots and 3D Models
(Prohibited Content)
4.1 Screenshots
Screenshots of applications, copyrighted content (movies, tv shows, etc), or websites are prohibited, unless showcasing new, original, user-created content (models, textures, etc). This rule does not apply to games with user created content (Garry's Mod, Second Life, Minecraft, IMVU, etc).
that part, "does not apply" meaning the content from games such as IMVU, Second Life etc are not allowed? that's why i'm very curious about it. i'd appreciate it if you could answer this issue thanks
